4-H Camp Piedmont in Belmont County

Full-time Camp Position – responsible for overall management of 4-H Camp Piedmont including overseeing camp operations, supervision of staff and personnel matters, teaching, marketing and recruiting new camping audiences, and supervising maintenance of facility. Must have basic supervisory and maintenance skills. Possess verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills. Experience and/or education in general accounting procedures and experience with computer-based financial software. At least one season of camp administrative experience is preferred. Grant writing, fund raising and marketing skills desirable. Bachelor’s degree in camp administration or related degree is preferred.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To plan, direct, and supervise all camp programs, staff, and financial management.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Active involvement in selection of personnel, securing applications, interviewing, hiring, salary determination, and evaluation of staff performance.
  • Supervision of all 4-H Camp Piedmont staff, including areas of payroll, promotion, leaves of absence, vacations, and working relationships.
  • Attend and actively participate in all camp board meetings as an ex-officio member.
  • Upon request attend all board-appointed committees.
  • Recruit and schedule all extension and non-extension camps.
  • Maintain a favorable image and public relations for 4-H Camp Piedmont. Assist in developing camp brochures and other public relations materials including social media.
  • Have available all supplies and equipment to operate camp.
  • Provide financial report in writing at each camp board meeting. Advise board on financial matters, including submitting an annual budget in cooperation with the budget committee.
  • Maintain an open line of credit with the bank and arrange loans as directed by the board of directors.
  • Assist in seeking funds for operating 4-H Camp Piedmont (grants, donors, work with finance committee, etc.)
  • Inform user groups of the 4-H Camp Piedmont policies, guidelines, and traditions and enforce same.
  • Oversee and coordinate the duties of Food Service Manager and all other camp staff.
  • Suggest policy changes to 4-H Camp Piedmont Board. Develop and maintain current policy handbooks for all user groups.
  • Contact or meet with all groups prior to and during their camp visit to coordinate and plan for their program needs.
  • Communicate with all camp staff the necessary information to prepare for and implement a favorable camp experience.
  • Serve as a teacher and resource person when needed.
  • Provide an effective training program for all staff, including the development of a staff manual and in-service training. Emphasize positive attitudes and a “camp is for the camper” philosophy.
  • Systematically check certification of waterfront equipment.
  • Work with Physical Facilities Committee to ensure compliance with waste water treatment plant and well service requirements.
  • Work with 4-H Camp Piedmont Board and Program Committee to develop new programs and future program directions.
