The Solutions Engineer is a technical role that is part of a highly technical strategic team, which supports product direction and promotes customer happiness. Primarily providing technical support for the understanding of products/applications/solutions. This includes presentations, product demonstrations, assessment of potential application of F5 solutions, and future direction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Office of the CTO and our partner’s solution engineers in qualifying prospective partnership opportunities, supporting sales enablement objectives, conducting product demonstrations, and technical presentations remotely or at partner locations/F5 facilities.
  • Collaborate directly with technology partner on solution development and assist them with their lab installation and configuration of F5 products. This includes installation, customization, or upgrades of both hardware and software.
  • Produce sales pull through partnerships by effectively positioning F5 solutions and their benefits to the partners and by supporting partnerships at events and shows.
  • Work with BDM and partner to develop and review joint solution documentation.
  • Work on tasks as part of an overall solutions development project.

  • This position requires travel between 15-20% to partner sites, customer sites, other F5 offices, and to tradeshow/conference events.
  • Ability to work on-site or remotely and still maintain tight collaboration with team and partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of one or more key cyber-security concepts and technologies such as firewall, IPS, web application security, TLS/SSL, certificate and key management, identity & access management (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID), and perimeter security.
  • Knowledge of F5 solutions is helpful. 5+ years experience supporting technical sales and/or partners-led sales of enterprise applications and cyber-security solutions to corporate accounts.
  • Proven track record of learning new technologies, developing domain expertise on new products and solutions, and demonstrating a hands-on approach to installing, using, and maintaining new offerings.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and tackle technical problems.
  • Ambitious and flexible.
  • Deep understanding of technology drivers in the current market, like Cloud, microservices, DevOps, and evolving cyber threats with focus on L7 security. Strong Linux and Windows Server O/S knowledge is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with ability to articulate complex technology simply.
  • Proven writing skills, with an emphasis on deployment guides, how-to-guides, technical enablement materials, and blogs.
  • Good understanding of the OSI layers and protocols, particularly web application protocols (HTML, HTTP, JSON, XML, etc.).
  • Relevant networking or security certifications are helpful.
  • Solid hands-on experience with networking technologies and implementations (TCP/IP, VLANs, IP addressing and subnetting, NAT etc.).
  • Ability to script or to prototype simple software applications.
  • Insatiable drive to learn new technologies.

Qualifications

8+ Years of related experience plus Bachelor Degree or 6 years with a Master Degree or equivalent work experience
