The Project Manager drives the end-to-end delivery of large projects that are approved and funded. This includes guiding simultaneous complex projects from inception through delivery and support, working in close partnership with IT and business leaders, including project, program, and executive sponsors, all IT groups, as well as other leaders within the business and IT. Other responsibilities include defining objectives, creating plans to define the objectives, tracking progress against objectives and budgets, driving execution of key projects and programs, coaching project team members and improving project management processes. Provides overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of project-oriented work efforts. Establishes new and improves existing project management processes and methodologies for Southern Glazer’s organization to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations.

The responsibilities for this role are:

  • Provide strategic input to IT leadership and other Southern Glazer’s leadership on all aspects of projects or programs being managed to deliver value for the business
  • Continually assess the overall resource requirements for IT resources associated with projects or programs
  • Continually work to improve the delivery rate of IT projects within Southern Glazer’s IT and ensure quality and strict scope adherence, while adhering to out project delivery methodologies
  • Establish a flexible and realistic staffing model in support of Southern Glazer’s strategic direction
  • Understand and influence cross-functional and cross-business unit dynamics in providing Southern Glazer’s the lowest cost of ownership for its IT solutions over time
  • Ensure that project silos do not exist, and identify appropriate cross-project integration opportunities
  • Manage internal resources and any subject matter experts from other functional areas or external entities
  • Control and closely manage the scope of all project-related activities
  • Ensure rapid project issue resolution and communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding issues and risks
  • Ensure the execution of all Southern Glazer’s and Southern Glazer’s IT policies, procedures, and standards are followed
  • Ensure the high-quality creation and execution of project plans and communication plans
  • Track and report project status on a consistent basis, including identifying, categorizing, and escalating project issues and risks that need leadership attention
  • Establish and maintain standardized processes, procedures, tools, training, and reporting functions related to projects worked on within Southern Glazer’s IT
  • Ensure that communicated and planned metrics (savings, cost, timing, etc.) are achieved
  • Mentor and coach team members ensuring success in their roles to support the needs of Southern Glazer’s IT team
  • Responsible for coaching, developing, and encouraging excellence from a diverse team
  • Establish and maintain internal and external contacts to position Southern Glazer’s IT to leverage industry best practices
  • Remains current on professional organizations and publications
  • Consistently retools and enhances current knowledge with updated business, industry, and technology trends
Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of, and ability to execute project management methodologies and tools
  • Ability to lead a team in the successful completion of project related activities per an approved plan
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team player with willingness to collaborate, with flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong analytical and problem solving/decision making skills
  • Experience managing multiple large, complex projects across multiple functions is preferred
  • Experience managing and mentoring project management staff
  • Experience successfully coordinating business and technical resources under an integrated project plan to ensure the alignment of resources
  • Proficiency with MS Project
  • Capability to understand Southern Glazer’s application portfolio as well as how the different systems contribute to daily business operations

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (computer science, information systems, business administration or other industry related curriculum)
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred (indicate year) or equivalent work experience
  • Note: Sufficient and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements

EXPERIENCE

  • 7 or more years of IT work experience
  • 5 or more years managing projects with multiple technologies across multiple business functions

TRAVEL – Domestic travel, less than 10%
