Following a successful phase 3 trial with its lead program, once-daily, oral BCX7353 for the prevention of hereditary angioedema (HAE) attacks, BioCryst is actively growing its organization to support the global launch of the first oral treatment for HAE in 2020. BioCryst plans to submit a new drug application for regulatory approval of BCX7353 in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2019 followed by regulatory submissions in Europe and Japan in the first quarter of 2020.
In addition to the ongoing BCX7353 clinical development programs for prophylactic and acute (completed Phase 2) HAE treatment, BioCryst has several ongoing development programs including BCX9930, an oral Factor D inhibitor for the treatment of complement-mediated diseases. BioCryst reported initial phase I data on BCX9930 in October 2019 and expects to report proof of concept data in patients in the first half of 2020.

Other programs include galidesivir, a potential treatment for Marburg virus disease and Yellow Fever, and a preclinical program to develop an oral ALK-2 inhibitor (BCX9250) for the treatment of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. Galidesivir has successfully completed a Phase 1 trial and BCX9250 is expected to advance into a Phase 1 trial in the fourth quarter of 2019.

RAPIVABÂŽ (peramivir injection), a viral neuraminidase inhibitor for the treatment of influenza, is BioCryst’s first approved product and has received regulatory approval in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and the European Union.

BioCryst is headquartered in Durham, North Carolina with its Discovery Center of Excellence in Birmingham, Alabama.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Regional Business Director will be responsible for the business performance and achievement of company objectives within assigned region. He/She will serve a critical role in the launch of BCX7353 and will be accountable for designated region’s P&L.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for exceeding goals and objectives for the respective region.
  • Serve as member of the sales leadership team, ensuring alignment with goals and objectives of the commercial leadership team and the broader organization.
  • Hire, lead, inspire, coach and develop the Rare Disease Specialists in respective region.
  • Provide strategic direction to Rare Disease Specialists in order to exceed goals and objectives.
  • Direct the development and execution of regional business plan and manage departmental budget activities.
  • Support the brand plan and corporate strategies.
  • Collaborate with commercial and project management team to ensure successful launch and promotion of BCX7353.
  • Engage Rare Disease Specialists in company culture of passion and commitment to patients.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to gather knowledge and best practices for Rare Disease Specialists.
  • Responsible for regional P&L.
  • Demonstrate clear and thorough understanding of market, disease state, product and competition.
  • Act as champion of corporate values and inspire direct reports and colleagues to do the same.
  • Exercise impeccable judgement and oversight to ensure integrity and compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as corporate policies in all activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven biotech/Pharma leadership experience, rare disease experience a plus.
  • Track record of high performance/top 10% performance history/National awards.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Track record of KOL-relationship development.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Significant travel required, proximity to a major airport ideal.
  • Launch experience and small start-up commercial experience a plus.
