The Office of Research Development, an office within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR), seeks a dynamic and highly motivated individual for the position of project manager to support UNC CH’s growing research enterprise. The project manager will be responsible for developing grant proposals, building multi-disciplinary research teams in support of OVCR’s research initiatives and promoting the submission of large multi-disciplinary research applications. The ideal candidate will have worked as part of multi-disciplinary teams, have supported grant submissions and/or has obtained his/her own grant funding, able to develop strong scientific understanding of different types of research being conducted at UNC-Chapel Hill, welcomes new responsibilities, and is organized and detail oriented. The position reports to Director, Office of Research Development. Key responsibilities of this position include: – Build, coordinate, and manage multi-disciplinary research teams, from ideation through final submission, and facilitate long-term project planning. – Network and serve as a liaison with UNC Chapel Hill faculty, the supporting research community, and extramural federal, state and foundation grant-making agencies. – Manage identification and dissemination of strategic funding opportunities to high value program areas – Technical writing and editing support to enhance the responsiveness and competitiveness of grant applications, and manage the organization of all non-technical documents supporting research grant applications, with a dual focus of university compliance and application grantsmanship. – Co-manage information gathering about sponsor agencies including agency research and review of strategic priorities, supporting faculty-project officer meetings, and agency-specific expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

Superb written and oral communication skills. Detail oriented, organized, ability to multi-task, and work under tight deadlines.The successful candidate will have a PhD in a research discipline (preferred) or master’s degree in a research discipline with at least 5 years of research development experience.
