Zendesk is hiring a hardworking furniture project manager to join the Capital Projects team! The ideal candidate has experience managing furniture specification, procurement and installation. This person is passionate about various aspects of office design; branding, furniture, hospitality and workplace technology. This role would run a 3-4 year pipeline of capital projects around the world. Growth cities include; SF, Montreal, Copenhagen, London, Krakow, Melbourne, Manila, Madison and global WeWork sites.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Capital Projects team & Creative Director to lead large furniture projects for Zendesk worldwide.
  • Experience managing furniture projects with an annual spend of $5M-10M globally.
  • Develop and issue RFP’s to furniture dealers for the purpose of negotiating contract pricing and achieve material savings with manufacturers for systems furniture, ancillary and COM products.
  • Develop standards by region to develop consistent look & feel in Zendesk offices.
  • Handle the selection and procurement of furniture identified by the local project team, Architect and Creative Director for all Zendesk offices and global WeWork sites.
  • SME in systems furniture, ergonomics, European ancillary manufacturers, hospitality furniture brands, locally made custom furniture, designer textiles and leathers.
  • Review all aspects of furniture proposals; textiles, finishes, woods, leathers, custom millwork, shop drawings. Responsible for approvals, and change orders.
  • Develop preliminary budgets, benchmark future projects and develop cash flow models.
  • Develop and track master project schedules for multiple concurrent projects
  • Participate in weekly OAC meetings to track schedule thru project delivery & completion.
  • Coordinate the delivery & installation of furniture, track punchlist and backordered items
  • Run asset tracking process for all new fixed assets, database management with Finance and Workplace teams and periodic audits
  • Manage document libraries; active projects, project close-outs, O+M manuals, budgets, etc.
  • Manage materials library; textiles, woods, leathers, laminates, etc.
  • Support the process for annual capital budgeting and forecasting for new projects.
  • Space planner involved with test fitting, furniture reconfigurations, densification projects, adjacency planning and restacks.
  • Serve as single point of contact and coordinate with all third party firms (Architecture & Design firms, contractors, cabling vendors, building managers, electricians, and other trades, workplace team, IT group, movers, etc)
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-7 years of meaningful experience in furniture, preferably with a dealership (ie interior design, architecture, commercial construction, project management)
  • Ability to issue RFP’s for furniture dealers and manufacturers using fair bidding practices.
  • Experience and understanding of California building code, Title 24, ADA, LEED, Greenguard, BIFMA.
  • Excellent analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced skills in AutoCad, MS Project, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Drive, Box, Slack, SpaceIQ, Airtable, Smartsheets
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management
  • Availability to travel to oversee furniture installations
