Director of Fabrication and Production

We are expanding our team. Effective immediately, our Portland, OR location is looking for a Director of Fabrication and Production who will lead the Fabrication and Production department.

Details:

Position Location: Portland, Oregon
Classification: salaried exempt
Full or Part: Full time
Office hours: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Travel: up to 35%; as needed by business needs
Relocation: Relocation is not offered for this position

Main Responsibilities:

• US leadership role managing the fabrication, technical services, warehouse and logistics functions
• Develops and meets objectives / goals for functions listed above in alignment with company vision
• Analyze and improve quality control, efficiencies and overall financial performance of the relevant departments
• Identify opportunities to improve, measure standards and best practices in collaboration with the department managers and subject matter experts
• Develops business strategies to maintain and expand internal capabilities in alignment with the company goals
• Liaise with the Managing Directors and Director of Operations to develop strategic departmental plans that promote profitable growth and efficient operations of the US branches and overall company
• Builds network in the industry and establishes and fosters relationships with partners in the markets we service
• Develops roles and responsibilities for the relevant departments in collaboration with the Director of Market Development and HR
• Organize and facilitates regular meetings with the relevant mangers and subject matter experts to develop best practices
• Strategizes and initiates team development opportunities with appropriate stakeholders
• Reviews and evaluates work of direct reports
• Collaborates with HR on the hiring process

Fabrication Services:

• Supports achieving company targets by holistically overseeing the department
• Organizes monthly reviews with team and 1:1 meetings with direct reports
• Supports the team to identify innovative opportunities for new business while expanding internal capabilities to meet market needs and trends
• Quality control of our fabrication execution in-house and from trusted partners
• Promotes in-house fabrication services in the marketplace

Production Services:

• Establish and grow dry-hire business for our equipment
• Service satis&fy productions from an av equipment perspective in the most effective and efficient way
• Make strategic investment proposals to Director and CFO

Logistics Services:

• Service satis&fy productions from an av equipment perspective in the most effective and efficient way
• Make sure satis&fy staff is booked for local projects in the most efficient way

• Ability to develop and sustain strong working relationships with multiple national and local vendors
• Maintains a proactive approach on delivery of all safety issues and actively participates in safety committee meetings; supports / follows incident review and corrective action guidelines to prevent work place safety incidents

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in science, fabrication or equivalent to industry
• Seven + years in the event and retail industry
• Ten + years of department and team management experience
• Production of events, experiential design, retail, fabrication of event elements a must
• Previous experiences managing multiple projects in multiple locations
• Proven ability to mentor, develop and lead individuals as well as a team
• Has an exceptional command of verbal and written English
• Positive, customer-focused, service-oriented personality
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Computer/Information Systems Skills – Demonstrates ability to use the tools available (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite)
