We are seeking a Director of Construction, who is a recognized industry expert, to lead and grow our construction and design build services in the Texas market. You ll join our Construction Services/ Design Build Group and be responsible for revenue growth and profitability, strategic thought leadership, staff development and client satisfaction.
We ll leverage your credibility and relationships in the Texas area as you navigate the market s unique nuances to drive growth. You ll lead the construction services team by selling and managing projects, and developing trusted relationships with our clients to enhance our service offerings. You will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various infrastructure projects, such as: roadways, highways and interchanges; bridges and overpasses; and more. And as an advisor on projects, you ll use alternative project delivery methods and established proven methods and practices to drive results and deliver value throughout the project.
What You Will Do:
- Identify and pursue strategic partnership and business development opportunities
- Spearhead contract negotiations and prepare detailed scope of services, estimate fees and establish budgets for potential projects
- Provide team management and program leadership for the Construction team, including talent acquisition and staff development
- Market backlog, pipeline and opportunity management within a CRM environment
- Contribute technical direction to the pre-award process by determining project scope, planning, and estimating and during construction, act as a technical resource for the project team
- Establish project objectives, procedures and performance standards to lead the completion of construction projects, on budget and on time
- Perform both in the office and in the field on contract administration duties including plan development, interpretation, budget management, schedule management, record keeping, change negotiations, quality and project documentation
- Work on a variety of project delivery methods including Design Build, CM/GC, ID/IQ and conventional Bid/Build projects
- Provide project management and administration on a variety of Federal, State, County and City construction projects and contracts
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor s degree in civil engineering or construction management
- 10+ years of experience in construction project management and business development
- Working knowledge of the design and consulting business, material properties, TxDOT specifications and contract administration practices
- Prior design/build and field operations experience
- Ability to build relationships with engineers, contractors and government leaders
- Track record of developing high performing teams through mentoring, accountability and feedback
- Ability to effectively influence in a cross-functional environment
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Substantial experience on large scale heavy civil projects (bridges, roads, highways, rail etc.)
- Experience in multiple procurement methodologies (design-build, design-bid-build or construction management general contracting (CM/GC))
- Previous end-to-end heavy civil construction experience on large scale design-build projects
