The Director of Internal Communications is responsible for developing and executing the Rodeoâs employee, member and volunteer communication strategy. The successful incumbent will direct year-round and Show time communications to staff, members and volunteers by creating, syndicating and effectively distributing key show information to both staff, members and volunteers, ensuring adequate flows of information in a timely manner. In addition, the role requires working collaboratively with the marketing and external communications teams to build alignment across the plan and actions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
Maintain year-round relationships with internal staff and volunteers to ensure positive and proactive communications are developed and executed to share information and stories about the organization, the Rodeo and its events. Remains informed on issues impacting the staff and volunteer workforces, and proactively creates and recommends communications strategies and messages to better manage the flow of information.
Actively create and maintain communication channels that best serve the needs of employees, members and volunteers, including making recommendations on how to best keep information current, relevant and active. Works closely with leaders in the organization to understand major Show updates and communicate them to the organization as necessary.
Lead the strategy and execution of all internal communications, including writing, editing and distributing pieces; developing and/or maintaining volunteer messaging and assigned mediums, including social or other channels as applicable. Remains up-to-date on communications technology and leverages various technological resources to ensure communication is effectively received.
Work with Show management and assist external communication staff in crises and potential crisis situations to align and distribute information to employees and volunteers.
Assist the Chief VHR to develop key message presentations for both internal and external audiences, including recommendations on video, social media and other communications tactics to strengthen a positive team and company brand.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; with eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively construct messaging that is well understood by the intended audience and is effectively delivered through identified channels.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to create impactful visual forms of communication including on PowerPoint and digital formats.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Significant communications and/or public relations experience in a large, matrixed organization with a diverse range of internal recipients.
- Excellent people and customer service skills and superior organizational skills.
- Demonstrated record of successfully developing and executing an internal communications plan that had positive impacts for intended audiences.
- Self-driven professional with a sense of urgency that can work independently and with a limited amount of support.
- Ability to influence and coach stakeholders and customers at all levels regarding best forms and approaches to internal messaging and impact.

The employee may be required to lift and/or move 15 or more pounds. Extended work hours required, especially during peak periods.
