FUNCTION: Lobbyist on Veterans Issues, Veterans Service Officer (VSO), and assists Director of Legislative Programs on veteran’s issues and other legislative issues.
SUPERVISION: Reports to the Director of Legislative Programs (DLP) on legislative issues and to National Veterans Service Officer (NVSO) on veteran’s disability claims cases assigned to FRA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as the Association’s advisor on veteran legislation and a member of the Legislative Team. Assists NVSO with FRA’s veteran disability claims assistance program and may upon request write VSO and veteran’s legislation articles for Newsbytes and FRA Today (magazine). Incumbent shall be responsible for such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by higher authority
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior military service preferred.
Must possess excellent writing and speaking skills.
Possess computer/internet skills and ability to utilize word processing equipment.
Must possess tact and judgment traits necessary to deal with government officials, disabled veterans, members of Congress and their Staffs, and the FRA leadership
Must within first year of employment obtain Veterans Service Officer certification.
