This position is responsible for providing overall Human Resources leadership to ensure the organization’s goals are achieved by developing and implementing human resources policies, procedures, and initiatives including talent management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, change management, performance, training and development. Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Human Resources serves on the Leadership Team to ensure the organization maximizes the strengths and capacity of our human resources development and drives employee engagement by helping to shape and implement a best in class culture consistent with the vision, mission and values of Dominion Diagnostics.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with the Employee Success Team and the Leadership Team to actively enhance the employee experience and shape a collaborative, inclusive, healthy and positive company culture; monitors employee morale, keeping leadership informed of opportunities for positive recognition as well as key challenges.
- Serves as a trusted business partner to the members of the Leadership Team and works collaboratively with the management team and staff to solve problems and create solutions to optimize performance.
- Leads HR initiatives, ensuring that they add value to the business goals.
- Maintains, develops, implements and communicates the organization’s policies and procedures ensuring federal, multi-state, local and industry-specific regulatory compliance to minimize organizational risk. Remains current on HR trends and legislation. Provides direction and training to leadership regarding the interpretation of employment law and HR policies.
- Develops and implements an overall talent acquisition and workforce planning strategy, collaborating with line management to build a talent pipeline for key positions.
- Oversees the full cycle recruiting process. In conjunction with hiring managers, directs and performs recruitment and selection by ensuring effective planning, sourcing, assessment and interview techniques and tools to hire and place well-qualified candidates on a timely basis.
- Designs, directs and implements the on-boarding program.
- Handles employee relations issues and leads investigations; advises managers, serves as internal coach and consultant ensuring fair and equitable treatment of employees; guides managers on formal corrective action procedures while minimizing company liability.
- Coaches employees on subjects such as career development, leadership and performance development plans, and assists employees during implementation of change management initiatives.
- Develops training plans and programs; leads and organizes training sessions, workshops, and activities; Ensures successful execution of management and leadership development programs.
- Directs an integrated performance management system, including an annual performance evaluation and merit program.
- Directs the administration of compensation, payroll, recognition and benefit programs. Ensures that the total rewards program enables Dominion Diagnostics to attract and retain qualified staff, and is competitive externally, equitable internally, current, and cost-effective.
- Assumes a leadership role in the organization’s health and wellness programs.
- Ensures the integrity of HRIS systems, employee database information and all relevant employee records. Performs HR administrative duties, monitors HR metrics, analyzes data and provides pertinent reports.
- Coaches, mentors, supervises and evaluates HR, payroll and administrative staff, providing appropriate opportunities to develop skills and knowledge.
- Represents the organization externally at industry and professional events with a focus on attracting top talent to the organization and enhancing our reputation in the community.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or other related field from an accredited university is required; HR certification preferred; Master’s degree or advanced coursework in HR/OD is a plus.
- Ten years Human Resource leadership experience; at least 3 years leading the HR department or at a division level; prefer experience in multi-state environment, with home office and field personnel.
- Significant experience as a HR practitioner dealing with the full scope of human resource matters in a fast-paced environment is essential. Must be hands-on and capable of producing work with limited support staff.
- Excellent knowledge of HR practices, principles and all applicable federal, multi-state and local employment regulations.
- On-going HR professional and leadership development.
- Must be a results-oriented leader and demonstrate strategic thinking, innovation, flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations in a dynamic, changing environment.
- Demonstrated success working in a highly collaborative environment, with a track record of accomplishment with measurable business impact.
- Excellent project management skills including successful leadership of projects from planning phase through completion.
- Superb interpersonal and communication skills, verbal, written and listening– ability to communicate clearly and promptly in all mediums with all levels of staff, with diverse populations and personalities.
