Summary:

The Vice President of Government Affairs (Regulatory) is responsible for the development and management of the Association’s advocacy efforts related to aviation regulations and certification. Emphasis is placed on regulatory issues concerning airmen safety and policy, aero medical, air traffic and security, aircraft airworthiness/certification, and pilot certification. This position manages the Regulatory Affairs and Aerospace/Air traffic team.


Responsibilities:

  • Identifies key regulatory issues and leads the development of strategies to address them in a manner that meets member expectations.
  • Participates in establishing the Association’s position on key advocacy issues.
  • Establishes key relationships and actively engages the FAA and other agencies.
  • Represents the association before the membership, industry, and government.
  • Coordinates association response to issues and communicates internally and externally.
  • Effectively manages the Regulatory Affairs and Aerospace/Air traffic staff and foster their professional growth and personal development. Perform staff performance reviews, set annual goals, monitor performance and provide ongoing training, feedback, and support.
  • Develop and monitor budget as required.

Desired Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Team player
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in the aviation industry
  • 10 years of experience in progressively responsible roles, with a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience working with government agencies
  • Aviation-savvy individual with knowledge and understanding of general aviation issues
  • Knowledge in air traffic systems
  • Private pilot certificate with instrument rating preferred
  • Knowledge of all types of general aviation aircraft a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required, degree in Aviation preferred.
