WHAT YOU’LL DO:

You’re responsible for achieving the financial goals all things Maintenance and Repair through strategic planning and interaction with Operations leaders, oversee and responsible for Preventative Maintenance adherence and compliance, on-going training with Chief Engineers, operating and guest service standards, maintain all life/safety systems in working condition and meets all enforcement agency requirements, capital improvement guidance and input, work with owner representatives on proper resolutions to engineering related issues, work with owner’s representative to take the lead in natural catastrophe recovery efforts, expense controls, and talent management. Ultimately, you’re a strategist, collaborator, creative problem-solver, strong communicator, and people-focused leader. You will be responsible for ensuring all hotels are continuously maintained at high standards and all hotels pass QA/BSA/OPR as it relates to condition and life/safety continuously.

WHAT YOU WILL DELIVER:

  • Regular hotel visits to ensure that all aspects of the business are running smoothly and that you’re connecting with the on-property teams.
  • Proactively develop strong relationships with 3rd-party hotel ownership/asset managers with emphasis on partnership, goal alignment, and provide coaching/support for your teams to do the same.
  • Support the Executive Team in the development and evaluation of new Remington hotels.
  • Support the Chief Operating Officer in utility and engineering cost analysis, review and research, and presentation to ownership groups.
  • Recruit, develop, and evaluate management talent to maintain a full pipeline for upcoming openings.
  • Provide the team with operational support, ongoing coaching, professional development, quarterly check-ins, and ensure accountability with a focus on succession planning.
  • Development cost neutral Task Force support for hotels needing assistance.
  • Work with DVP of Operations, GMs, and Chief Engineers to manage Departmental P&L and assist them in analysis.
  • Lead and support annual budget and capital planning.
  • Play an active role during the pre and post transitioning/opening of new hotels including hiring/recruiting and training.
  • Maintain strong industry network and local market knowledge for each competitive hotel within region.
  • Evaluate third party maintenance agreements and warranties (where they exist) and play key role in negotiating the best possible price/service terms and monitor with proper follow up with vendors.
  • Work with Project Management and Corporate Engineers on approved refreshes and capital projects to ensure good partnership and project completion timeliness.
  • Monitor all Out of Order Rooms, identifying any issues with timeliness of rooms returning to service, addressing with appropriate Operations Leaders while also evaluating for trends with appropriate actions to prevent unnecessary recurrence.
  • Oversee and responsible for Preventative Maintenance Program.

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 5+ years as a multi-unit or regional senior leader, preferably at the VP level.
  • 5+ years as single property Chief Engineer.
  • Experienced with Labor Management Systems.
  • Experienced with Automated Preventative Maintenance systems.
  • Extensive working knowledge hotel Engineering (independent and hotels) and consistent record of success.
  • Strong negotiation skills as well as strong verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Exceptional understanding of fundamental hotel mechanical systems, to include electrical, plumbing, HVAC (centrifugal chillers a big plus), elevators, fire enunciator and suppression systems (training certification a big plus).
  • The ability to think strategically and analytically, demonstrating sensitivity to brand issues, with a participative “all in” attitude
  • Strong command of financial statements and ability to understand, interpret and analyze financial and cost management data.
  • Experienced working with Energy management systems in addition to evaluating energy savings initiatives and results.
  • Strong understanding of code compliance regulations (a big plus).
  • Flexibility to travel 50-75% of the time.
