Vin Solutions, a Cox Automotive brand, is seeking a Senior Scrum Master for a permanent position in Mission, KS.

The Sr Scrum Master has the responsibility of facilitating the learning and growth of one or more Agile teams, improving development practices, and guiding them to more predictable delivery. We are looking for someone experienced with leading or coaching successful software development teams who is passionate about the common sense application of agile principals. Official training or certification is NOT required; it’s not that we don’t care about them, but we want someone who prioritizes team delivery over textbook compliance. Ideal candidates are confident in their ability to assess team health, coach others, and guide productive conversation. The goal of this position is to act as a leader within the agile community and drive several high-priority initiatives within the company.

Influences team members, leadership and the agile community at all levels. Coaches other scrum masters and builds a greater agile community within the company. Makes decisions which influence the success of projects and team objectives.

Communication Skills
Communicates fluently, orally and in writing, and can present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Facilitates collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives. Plans, schedules and monitors work to meet time and quality targets. Rapidly absorbs new information and applies it effectively. Maintains an awareness of developing technologies and their application and takes responsibility for driving own development.


Key Responsibilities


Backlog Management Practices
  • Works with Product Owners and team members to learn and practice healthy backlog management and prioritization practices
  • Facilitates the execution and improvement of backlog refinement
  • Prepares for and facilitates release planning with teams
  • Assists in dependency management and cross team coordination

Agile Development and Coaching
  • Facilitates continuous improvement by giving teams insight into what’s working and what’s not through metrics, analysis, and retrospectives
  • Facilitates ceremonies, collaboration, communication, and conflict management
  • Teaches new team members Agile mindset and frameworks, practices, and process
  • Influences the organization in the removal of organizational impediments and development of healthy Agile practices
  • Mentors product owners, team members, and other scrum masters in agile practices and continuous improvement

Delivery Team Support
  • Removes impediments to the team’s ability to perform
  • Acts as a buffer between external distractions to minimize disruptions
  • Assists in the coordination of operational issue resolution
  • Facilitates team development, mediates conflicts, and encourages healthy team dynamics
  • Fosters team responsibility, self-accountability, transparency and self-organization
  • Leverages coaching skills to help the teams learn to solve its own problems


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education
  • Working experience in related industry
  • 5 – 8 years of working experience in a delivery team as a Scrum Master, Engineer, Product Owner, or other role
  • Working experience in one or more of the following Agile methods or frameworks: Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), or Kanban
  • Working experience with Agile scaling frameworks
