As the Purchasing Manager at The BHI Companies you hold a critical position and are responsible for bidding and negotiating with suppliers and trade contractors for the labor and materials needed to build our Woodland, Pine Crest and Richland homes. The specific duties of this position are:

Responsibilities

• Negotiate labor and material contracts for the construction of our homes.
• Develop and maintain material take-offs, contract documents and scopes of work for all trades and suppliers.
• Compare subcontractor bids against estimates. Input final bids.
• Provide estimates for non-standard options.
• Negotiate and track rebates.
• Collaborate with production and management to drive value-engineering efforts to ensure the most cost-effective product.
• Maintain proactive communication with subcontractors and vendors.
• Confirm field installation practices conform to scopes of work.
• Have a clear understanding of all trade partner capabilities and ensure all are prepared for future growth and business plan expectations.
• Proactively analyze current bids, plans, products, techniques and processes for cost savings and innovations.

Job Requirements

• A two-year degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience and a general understanding of home construction.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Auto CAD experience is a plus.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Perform multiple, detail-oriented tasks with time-sensitive deadlines.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Proactive and biased for action.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.
