Head of QA, Product

Santa Clara, CA or Lehi, UT

Why you’ll be excited to work at Vivint Internet

We are on a bold mission to offer a new model for home internet and the way you connect and protect the things you care about in your home, built around our industry-leading millimeter wave technology that is part of our highly software defined, virtualized 5G network and our deep focus on customer experience.

Vivint Internet is an early-stage spin out from Blackstone-backed Vivint Smart Home that has developed a groundbreaking wireless mesh network technology enabling us to quickly enter new markets and offer gigabit internet speeds, with fiber grade capacity, across large suburban areas. We know that most people aren’t happy with their home internet service today but haven’t really had many choices for broadband either. We aim to change that, quickly.

What excites us is an opportunity to disrupt a trillion-dollar industry with a cutting-edge technology and a market leading customer experience. We have over 10,000 customers today in two metro markets and are looking to launch several new markets using our next generation technologies that will provide a very differentiated customer experience.

As a growth-stage company aligned with the Vivint family, we combine a depth of capabilities and resources of our larger group companies with the ambition, culture and agility of a startup. Our multinational team, comprised of veterans of Clearwire, Google, Amazon, Sprint, Qualcomm, Rise and many other established and startup companies, is dual headquartered in two of the hottest tech centers of Silicon Valley (Santa Clara, CA) and Silicon Slopes (Lehi, UT).

Role

As the Head of QA in our Product Team you will be responsible for ensuring that our integrated system and network releases, provided to our Operations team, meet or exceed the requirements set by our Product Management and Marketing teams as part of our mission to ensure that the services, devices, systems and tools we provide to our external and internal customers, provide delightful experiences.

Working in partnership with our Product Management, Program Management and Engineering leads, you will ensure sufficient test case coverage and define regression programs as part of our overall release planning and execution process. You will also liaise with the QA leads in the engineering teams to ensure they are conducting sufficient unit and pre-integration testing ahead of integration and system level QA.

You will also collaborate with our Network and Customer Operations team as they deploy and maintain our network and product experience, assisting in the triage of issues and helping drive the Product team towards swift resolution.

While we are adopters of distributed working, this role will require some travel between our locations in CA and UT as we manage test environments and teams in both locations.

What excites you about this role:

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are inspired by cracking ambiguous and challenging questions with an agile approach
  • You are excited by the prospect of building a team and function with high standards that will become a critical part of our business as we continue with our aggressive growth plans
  • You enjoy working across multiple parts of a business as you strive to deliver impact and results, from product management to engineering to operations to finance, sales and marketing
  • The opportunity to work on cutting edge networking and connected device technologies and the freedom to define the testing frameworks and methodologies
  • Having a prominent role in helping us build out our connectivity platform and launch multiple consumer IoT devices and services within our rapidly growing customer base
  • The challenges of managing multiple initiatives at once, prioritizing based on business needs and urgency

What excites us about you:

  • At least 5 years of experience working in a QA role that involves both software and hardware device testing, with some experience of leading a team of QA engineers
  • Solid understanding of test case management frameworks and how to use them in structuring regression campaigns as part of the release process
  • You have a bias towards automation with experience in test case automation and scripting
  • While you are principled in your quest for excellence, you possess a willingness to be pragmatic as we balance the needs of our customers and business
  • Experience of engaging and working with diverse and offshore teams
  • A solid understanding of agile development methodologies
  • Experience in building test fixtures as well as maintaining multiple lab and customer test environments
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and the ability to present results in a clear, concise and impactful manner
  • Strong executive presence with the confidence to lead conversations with senior leadership and external partners
  • Desire to help create a fun, productive culture and mentor colleagues across our business
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar field, or equivalent level of attainment; experience in networking, wireless and/or connected device technologies is strongly desired

We take care of our own:

  • Free catered lunch (UT only), snacks and drinks
  • Paid holidays and flexible paid time away (we’re big fans of unlimited!)
  • Your choice between Mac or PC
  • Casual dress code & flexible working environment
  • Onsite gym (UT & CA) & health clinic (UT only)
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life coverage, and HSA and 401k match
