Job Summary: The junior financial analyst for clinical trials will play an integral role in Post-Award management of industry sponsored clinical trials. This individual’s primary responsibility will be to work with and support the audit and accounts receivable management staff. This individual will work with other Financial Analysts and meet with research personnel in a collaborative effort to identify and quantify pertinent information impacting trial finances, generate invoices to pharma and biotech sponsors and follow standard collection practices to ensure funds due are received on time. This individual will also perform financial audits of clinical research studies and be a central resource to the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) for ad hoc financial and billing compliance projects. Desired skills include a background in sciences and technical analysis, knowledge of clinical research and proficiency with spreadsheet programs (i.e. Excel). Experience working within a medical organization and team environment is strongly desired. Oversight for this position will rest within Research and Academic Affairs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists and supports CTO Financial Analysts with financial management of clinical research projects.
  • Performs financial audits of current and terminated clinical research projects to determine outstanding receivables and validate the integrity of internal control systems through the audit process.
  • Generates invoices to Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and other external sponsors and collect funds due in accordance with payment schedules and executed contracts.
  • Compiles financial information and assists in the preparation and explanation of reports from multiple systems and databases for various meetings including deficit meetings and Principle Investigator meetings.
  • Assists with the development of new metrics as a result of improvements and enhancements to the CTO databases to measure performance for upper management.


Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Life Sciences required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Accounting, Finance and/or Life Sciences.
  • Experience in healthcare.
