Overview
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Drug Free Manatee, staff, programs, and execution of its mission. The E.D. will promote the activities and sustainability of Drug Free Manatee including program design, outreach, education, prevention, capacity building, community engagement and systems change.

Drug Free Manatee is a substance use prevention Coalition that has been serving Manatee County since 2001. The Coalition is uniquely positioned to leverage state and federal funds to grow its staff, programming, and budget over the next several years. Qualifications
Master’s Degree preferred in Public Administration, Education, Business Administration, Public Health, Human Services or related field with management experience, record of accomplishment in effectively leading a growing, outcome-based organization and staff. Understanding of non-profits and successful grant writing and fundraising experience is essential as well as proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Other qualifications include:
- Ability to adapt to changing landscapes quickly and to be seen as a resource, problem-solver, and collaborator
- Familiarity with health and human service systems, preferred background in substance use prevention or behavioral health services
- Understanding of the theories of change, and in engaging environmental strategies to achieve community/population change.
- Understanding of data and its use to inform program design and development
- Excellence in organizational management in a collaborative environment with the ability to facilitate, coach staff, management and develop a high performance team, setting and achieving strategic objectives and managing a budget.
- Understanding and working with a Board of Trustees with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
- Ability to oversee the marketing and public relations effort engaging a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. Experience in public speaking and delivering formal presentations.

- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Assess opportunities for Coalition growth and expansion as a collaborator and community partner
- Ensure ongoing programmatic/strategy excellent rigorous program/strategy evaluation and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communication and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve Drug Free Manatee strategic goals and compliance with all funding sources.
- Actively engage and energize coalition members, board members, funders, and collaborative partner organizations.
- Develop, maintain and support a strong Board of Trustees: serve as an ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing operations.
- Lead, coach, develop and retain Drug Free Manatee staff. Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components and measure successes or challenges that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders and members.
- Create and enable the future of Drug Free Manatee through strategic planning, community collaborative efforts, funding expansion through grants, private funders and exploration of revenue streams and participation.
Financial Stability and Communications:
- Identify/author grants and pursue additional funding streams that promote prevention initiatives to reduce substance use disorder risks factors and increase protective factors to promote health and wellness.
- Develop and provide oversight for the annual budget.
- Working with Board Treasurer and Finance and Sustainability Committee, expand revenue-generating activities to support and expand existing operations.
- Manage the resources and ensure adherence to the budget.
- Oversee financial decisions, ensuring that all policies and procedures are understood and followed.
- Create the vision and plan the sustainability.
- Deepen and refine all aspects of communications with the goal of creating a stronger board.
- Use presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.
- Begin to build partnerships in new areas, establishing relationships with funders and political and community leaders
