We have an exciting opportunity to join the LHS team as a Division Assistant Vice President, IT Operations.
Position Summary
The Division Assistant Vice President, IT Operations (AVP) oversees and manages effective operation of Information Technology in the division and ensures strategic and operational alignment with Ardent enterprise IT&S goals and objectives. This position serves as a key member of the leadership team for the Division and works effectively with Division leadership and facility executive management. The AVP is an integral link between Corporate IT&S and the end user to enhance the use and effectiveness of its products and services.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Division IT Operations Management: Service Level Management, Resource Management, Processes & Standards Implementation, Compliance Management, Incident Management, Financial Management, Technical Management, and Information Security Management
- Oversee and manage daily operations in accordance with IT standards and policies
- Assist in development, maintenance, and oversight of annual operating and capital budgets for division IT operations
- Manage local IT environment according to negotiated and established service level agreements and in accordance with enterprise standards and guidelines
- Responsible for vendor management to include negotiation of division-specific IT contracts, mediation of contractual disputes, and amendments to core agreements
- Approve and manage invoices prior to handoff to Finance for payment
- Identify and coordinate resolution of IT issues through problem management within the division
- Assist in development and maintenance of an appropriate organizational structure and staffing capable of supporting the business and operational needs of the facilities within the division
Strategic Business/IT Alignment & Planning: Facility/Zone Business/IT Alignment, Strategic IT Planning
- Assist in development, coordination, guidance, and execution of IT systems’ strategic and operational plans in alignment with Ardent enterprise business and IT strategy.
- Participate proactively with division and facility management to optimize the use of information technology in support of clinical/patient-focused mission and business strategies
- Assist in defining and managing division success criteria
- Foster utilization of Ardent standard solutions and help ensure that division solutions and initiatives are not in conflict with Ardent enterprise solutions, processes, standards, and policies
Relationship Management & Communication: Division Office Leadership, Facility Leadership, Facility Department Directors & Managers, Facility IT Users, Facility IT Staff, and Physicians
- Build positive relationships with facility leadership and other division leaders as dictated by the business organizational structure and represents IT&S on appropriate business committees
- Communicate successes, challenges, opportunities, trends, and lessons regarding the division to Corporate CIO
- Cascade information to Division, Facility and IT staff
Project Portfolio & Project Implementation Management: Managing the Portfolio of Work, Managing Individual Projects
- Lead scheduling and implementation of Ardent Divisional IT initiatives
- Responsible for tracking all IT project initiatives
- Communicate, develop, and lead Divisional IT governance processes and practices
Process Engineering: Improvement of Workflow through Technology, Utilization of Technology
- Ensure enterprise IT systems operate according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards, and legal requirements
- Enforce policy and procedures to ensure the protection of enterprise IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of information
- Oversee development and maintenance of a division-wide disaster recovery plan
- Identify and assist in the development and implementation of division initiatives improving cost-effectiveness, service quality, and business development opportunities
- Lead the adoption of Lean/Six Sigma principles in the Division
- Oversee the implementation and use of a measurement and reporting system that monitors appropriate metrics that lead to product/service delivery, quality improvements, and MOR review
Staff Development: Staffing and Recruiting, Career Development, Mentoring and Coaching, Succession Planning, Performance Management
- Actively involved in Human Resources recruitment, performance evaluations, and management of IT division staff
- Ensures appropriate training and development programs are utilized to attract, retain, and develop personnel required to support IT services
- Participate in Division IT&S succession planning activities with CIO
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; an Advanced degree desired.
Preferred:
- Degree in Health, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience
- 5+ years of experience with direct leadership responsibility
- 10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in a managerial capacity
