GrocerKey is a 5 year young SaaS company based in Madison, WI, with additional offices in Minneapolis and Israel. Our mission is to transform retailers into digital leaders through a comprehensive eCommerce platform and robust mobile apps. We currently work with 10 independent and regional grocery chains, ranging from single store operators to several multi-billion dollar companies. We differentiate ourselves by combining enterprise technology with extensive operations experience – obtained through decades of experience, including managing all strategy and day-to-day operations of ShopWoodmans.com, the eCommerce business of Woodman’s Markets (a multi-billion dollar grocery chain based in Janesville, WI).

The role:
We’re looking for a dynamic leader to bridge the gap between our business and technical worlds as we grow. As our Chief Technology Officer & Chief Product Officer, you will help manage our remote development team, learn about our retail clients technical / product needs, and ensure that we’re executing on product road-map initiatives in a timely manner.

What you have:

  • Startup experience
  • The ability to work within an environment where employees need to be scrappy to get the information they need versus having tools readily available at their disposal
  • An entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Excitement about meeting with current and prospective clients over the phone and in person – with occasional consultation on product capability and education on technical implementation (configuration, integrations, and customization possibilities)
  • Top notch communication skills so everyone in the organization understands priorities, progress, and roadblocks
  • A proven track record in getting the most out of engineers, both individually, and as a collective group
  • The ability to enforce coding best practices, such as Test Driven Development

  • A desire to use metrics to:
  • Track code quality
  • Estimate delivery dates
  • Help bill clients appropriately
  • Become predictable to accommodate internal strategic initiatives and for the benefit of our clients

What you might also have:

  • A background in software engineering
  • Experience in automating components of the SDLC, such as continuous builds, change logs, release notes, etc
  • Ability to frequently be available during non-standard business hours in order to communicate with our development team
  • Experience building an eCommerce platform is a plus, eCommerce grocery experience is a double plus
