Child & Family Services (CFS) is a leader in the WNY community, providing support and services aimed at improving the lives of children, families, and individuals.With a commitment to be a catalyst for growth, prosperity, and sustainability, CFS recognizes the challenges of today, and the need for change in order to deliver viable, responsive, and meaningful services into the future.CFS is a multifaceted organization offering programs for individual and family counseling, foster care and adoption, domestic violence prevention and support, mediation, employee assistance, education, and residential services.

The Chief Executive Officer is the trailblazer and visionary of the organization, building upon the agency’s strong reputation in the community as a leader and innovator in human services.Recognizing the need to be flexible, agile, and resilient, in an increasingly complex environment, the CEO will leverage and build upon meaningful relationships and partnerships to ensure the organization is equipped to meet the evolving needs of families and children in our community.

Strategic & Visionary Leader

The CEO will lead Child & Family Services (CFS) vision and strategy for the future, built on a strong foundation of accessibility, responsiveness, community support, and inclusion. The CEO serves as the principal resource to the Board of Directors and will work closely with the Board and senior leadership team to identify and drive the strategy for the organization and build the necessary talent, systems, and culture to optimize industry and organizational opportunities.

Socially Responsible, Community Leader

The CEO of CFS will be highly visible in the community.They will need to have a strong affinity to serving others with the mission of strengthening families and promoting the well-being of children incorporated into all organizational initiatives. They will need to have social consciousness and show concern for the greater community, inspiring others to be socially responsible and contribute to the greater good.

Business, Financial, Operational Leader

The CEO will possess a high level of broad business and management skills and will be responsible for ensuring the organization’s financial and operational success.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 7- 10 years’ experience in a senior strategic leadership role required.
  • Extensive leadership experience in administration of organizations of comparable size and mission.
  • Experience in or across multiple sectors, including nonprofit, public and corporate environments.
  • Experience developing partnerships, building teams and conflict management.
  • Articulate and effective communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading a team of senior management professionals, as well as extensive experience with budgeting, financial management, and financial reporting for an organization with a multi-million-dollar budget, ideally with multiple funding streams.
  • Successful experience with fundraising and resource development.
  • Proven experience working successfully to bring people together in a multi-ethnic diverse environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated skills in budget, staff and program management in a large organization; ability to effectively manage diverse programs and complex funding streams.
  • Highly skilled in negotiations within the organization and with funding sources and outside partners.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of intelligence and intellectual curiosity and desire to explore new ideas and innovative approaches to solving problems.
  • Inquisitive and humble to learn from an experienced, knowledgeable, strategic & tenured board – leaning on experience, but having the confidence to push for initiatives that promote impact and growth for the organization and community.
