Job Summary
The Enterprise Business Intelligence & Analytics (EBIA) Artificial Intelligence team consists of highly motivated and skilled professionals who are leading Travelers’ analytics journey and driving business value that creates a sustainable competitive advantage for our company.

The Scrum Master will be a valued member of a collaborative teamdesigning, developing, and releasing new and innovative AI capabilities to support all business divisions. In collaboration with our business organizations, our initiatives use advanced technologies to deliver critical business functionality. This person will partner with Product Owners and a multidisciplinary team to deliver software and system solutions in small batches. This individual will be expected to facilitate team success by educating the team on Agile principles and practices, removing impediments, fostering high-performance team dynamics, continuous flow and improvement, and coordinating activities with other teams.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and works with the team(s) to optimize the flow of work through either a complex team or multiple. Ensures team(s) progress towards objectives, goals, and commitments.
  • Coaches the team(s) on: Lean Agile principles and values, SAFe, Scrum and/or Kanban practices.
  • Participates in Communities of Practice.
  • Responsible for facilitating team level ceremonies/cadences (e.g. stand-ups, iteration planning/replenishment, and retrospectives), removing impediments to the team(s) success, and resolving conflict within the team.
  • Removes team(s) level impediments and dependency management.
  • Manages team(s) level risks and issues, including but not limited to shielding from scope creep of deliverables, and effective management of stakeholder communications.
  • Collaborates and works effectively within the team(s), with other Scrum Masters, with the Agile Program; and across disciplines, escalating when appropriate.
  • Promotes team(s) health, high performance, and maturity, by managing interpersonal conflicts and challenges. Facilitates team(s) continuous improvement activities. Focuses the team(s) on modern Agile Engineering practices.
  • Facilitates team(s) level planning, tracking, measurement/metrics, reporting, and financial management activities; providing visibility to the team and stakeholders and enabling high-quality decision making. Ensures focus on Agile Program and organizational guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the team(s) Product Owner to ensure that they are always working on the highest, most valuable piece of work.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. 2 years of project management experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge

  • 4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master for an infrastructure or software development team preferred.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Strong skills and knowledge of facilitation, continuous improvement, empowerment, transparency and servant leadership preferred.
  • Demonstrated superb coaching skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of Agile approaches – Kanban, Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), etc preferred.
  • Experience using the Rally tool to drive delivery in an agile development environment, preferred.
  • Understands basic fundamentals of software development processes, procedures, and technical practices.
  • Experience facilitating and working with the team(s) to optimize the flow of work through either a complex team or multiple. Ensures team(s) progress towards objectives, goals, and commitments.
