Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Scrum Master 3 to our location in Beaverton, OR.
We are seeking a Scrum master 3 to serve the Agile PHP Information Services Team(s). Teams consist of staff with business analysis, software development, engineering, production operations and/or quality assurance backgrounds. The Scrum Master is a key partner to business sponsors and owners in delivering value. The Scrum Masters role is to create an environment for the Agile team to be self -organizing and high performing, where delivering value to the customer is the highest priority. Servant Leadership is a critical skill, as the Scrum Master is charged with removing impediments and barriers to a team’s success. The Scrum Master must keep apprised of the strategic objectives of PHP set forth by Administrative, Strategy and Operations Councils, monitor the value production of the team and communicate value/status to customers. PHP Agile teams serve the organizations customers and ministries. Agile teams may do work as part of a Project Management initiative.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and facilitate a high performing technical team. This skill may be developed over time that is in sync with the team and the organization, with a focus on realization of the following skills/duties:
- Strongly serving and supporting the Product Owner and Development Team in their quest to delight customers.
- Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum or Kanban practices and values with a focus on Mission and Values.
- Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments.
- Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
- Effective communication to facilitate meetings and perform presentations to senior management, vendors, staff, managers, and customers.
- Communicate progress on quarterly roadmaps weekly and present to senior leadership upon request.
- Produce relevant status reports on time and with use of standard PHS IS reporting mechanisms and tools.
- Create and/or utilize team metrics to guide team performance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with multiple teams as demonstrated by coordinating cross team dependencies via direct communication with other scrum masters and through scrum of scrum meetings.
- Facilitate all PHP Agile Ceremonies, putting particular emphasis on retrospectives and ensuring the team follows through on improvement efforts and documents results. Share the results across teams on a periodic basis.
- Ensure risks to completion of sprints or quarterly road maps are communicated quickly with recommended mitigation.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelorâs Degree or equivalent education/experience
- 4 years industry related experience
- Coursework/Training- Ongoing education in agile, scrum master skills and best practices, and coaching.
- 5 years of experience playing Scrum Master role with a software development team that was diligently applying agile principles, practices, and theory. Strong preference given to Scrum and Kanban agile methodologies.
- Software development/integration experience.
- Experience acting as an Agile team scrum master.
- Experience providing leadership, guidance and assistance with a focus on ‘leading from behind’, fostering a high-performing team environment focused on value delivery.
- Experience providing neutral external coaching to agile teams (Scrum and/or Kanban) in agile principles and practices.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Technical team lead.
