The Enterprise Billing team is looking for a Scrum Master to join us on our transformation to Lean-Agile ways of working. The Scrum Master’s primary role is to be a servant leader and coach for the Agile delivery team. This person will help educate the team in Lean-Agile, Scrum, Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), ensuring that the agreed Lean-Agile process is being followed and aligns with The Hartford’s Enterprise Business Delivery Model. They also help remove impediments, and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Agile frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
- Working knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices
- Working knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand team needs; includes fundamentals of iterative and incremental development
- Working knowledge of Agile techniques: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test-driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn-down Metrics, Velocity etc.
- Ensures team adherence to agile principles. Provides coaching to the Scrum Team(s) on how to execute the Scrum framework. Teaches team servant leadership.
- Organizes and facilitates ceremonies, identifies improvement opportunities to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk. Tracks and communicates the overall team progress providing visibility to stakeholders. (Retrospectives, Sprint Planning, etc)
- Serves as a filter to remove impediments to progress as identified by the team. Protects the team from outside influences to ensure the team remains focused on Scrum Team priorities.
- Partners with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog items are prioritized based on business value and ready for the team.
- Facilitate team for better creativity and tries to improve the efficiency of the development team.
- Arranges daily stand-up meetings, facilitates/schedules meetings, demo and decision-making processes in order to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process.
What is The Hartford looking for?
- 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master
- Bachelor degree in Communications, Business, Computer Science, or related discipline
- Undergraduate, co-op, intern or early career or previous experience in any part of the software development lifecycle – as developer, tester, analyst, product owner, project manager, etc.
- Experience using agile toolsets such as Agile Central
- Strong communication, facilitation, presentation and consensus building skills
