THE POSITION

We are looking for experienced Scrum Masters to join our team. You will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of driving a significant transformation within A Place for Mom. You’ll work with a group of developers with deep experience in customer data platforms, machine learning, distributed microservices, CRM, IVR, and full-stack systems. You’ll collaborate with digital product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust cloud-based solutions to drive compelling experiences that help seniors and their families find the right community based on their lifestyle and needs. You will be instrumental in delivering on a new product vision for A Place for Mom. This position reports to the Director – Project Management Office and is based in Kansas City.


Who you are:

The ideal candidate is a proven, passionate, and outcome-oriented scrum master with extensive hands-on experience in facilitating product teams to deliver product roadmap using Agile SCRUM and some Kanban methodology. These teams are building B2C and B2B products for our customers.

Responsibilities

What you will do:
  • Supports and facilitates up-to two Scrum Teams in various functions by fostering Agile values and practices to deliver the desired product roadmap.
  • Ensures team adherence to Agile principles. Provides coaching to the Scrum Team(s) on how to execute the Scrum framework to ensure the faster release of a usable product that creates value.
  • Organizes and facilitates ceremonies (Retrospectives, Demos, Sprint Planning), identifies improvement opportunities to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk.
  • Tracks and communicates the overall progress by providing visibility to stakeholders.
  • Serves as a filter to remove impediments to progress as identified by the team. Protects the team from outside influences to ensure the team remains focused on product priorities.
  • Partners with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog items are prioritized based on business value.
  • Facilitate team for better creativity and tries to improve the efficiency of the development team through continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Facilitate Release Planning to ensure the team delivers on product strategy.
  • Identifies and resolves gaps in skills, processes, and resources.
  • Build trust and a safe environment where problems are solved.
  • Communicate project status, velocity, release schedules, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Orchestrate process workouts to map current or to-be processes.
  • Develop and manage resource plans based on team velocity.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, and Kanban.
  • 5+ years of Agile SCRUM experience building D2C and B2B digital products.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading multiple scrum teams.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading distributed teams.
  • Ability to review epics, stories, and acceptance criteria for completeness.
  • Conduct scoping and sprint planning exercises.
  • Manage distributed agile teams.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in organizing product discovery techniques like story mapping is a plus.
  • Formal training in Agile SCRUM is a plus.
  • Strong Knowledge about Agile methods: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn Down Metrics, Velocity.
  • Open to travel.
