What we do

Our revolutionary electric, ventless, zero-emissions commercial coffee roaster uses clean technology and does not require gas lines or expensive ventilation. Its the most consistent and controllable roaster available, the lowest carbon footprint commercial roaster ever made, and was designed by coffee people who want a better future for coffee roasting. Our roasting platform allows Bellwether customers to easily and responsibly source green coffee from incredible coffee farms around the world, expertly roast using artisan-crafted roast profiles (or create their own), and share fresh, delicious coffee just the way their customers like it.

About the position

The one who wins this opportunity is currently working as a QA Manager or has recently been a manager of people in a QA role. You are QA veteran with deep experience with a wide variety of hardware and software environments including those used in mobile, Web, and embedded products (IoT). You possess a grounding in distributed computing and can assess quality risks across a system architecture comprising unique choices of operating systems, networking and cloud platforms. You are adept at identifying how defects are introduced at various stages of the product development process, how to isolate these at the source and optimize engineering attention with the discipline of a risk manager.

Key Responsibilities What success looks like

  • Promote a culture of quality within the engineering organization and beyond
  • Design best practices and select tools to accelerate the defect identification and characterization across engineering, staging and production environments
  • Build a team of top notch QA specialists that matches pace with our growth
  • Execute functional, acceptance, compatibility, integration, load and reliability testing
  • Plan and execute automated and human-driven test scripts based on a critical reading of application requirements and architectural documents
  • Publish periodic reports based on target metrics so management may assess the quality state of the complete software system
  • Collaborate closely with customer-facing teams to gather field defect data and assist in characterizing them to accelerate corrections
  • Expertly manage all QA functions for a burgeoning IoT product, and develop systems that help us build software quickly and accurately

Qualifications

  • Currently or recently serving as a Manager of a QA department, and have a deep understanding of QA methodologies, practices and tools
  • Minimum of two years of experience in EACH of the FOLLOWING: mobile phone environment, Web and/or iOS quality assurance roles, Swift development experience, Javascript and/or Python development experience, and automated API testing experience
  • Extensive experience with test automation tools such as Appium, Selenium, Jest, XCTest/XCUITest and Quality Center
  • Experience with the workflow of a Agile/Scrum team
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent; graduation from a strong coder academy will be considered.
  • You understand the evolution of computing architectures from the client/server, to the web, to the mobile cloud, and can discuss the implications for software engineering.
  • You LOVE Q.A.: youre doing it now/recently and have a strategic view of quality assurance
  • Youre at your best when leading others. Youve capably brought your team through numerous performance reviews and can give successful examples of direct-reports who were developed and/or promoted
  • You enjoy experimenting with new methods, patterns, and techniques.
  • You appreciate the poetry of code, and have excellent communication skills across all disciplines in a product engineering organization
  • Youre curious, innovative, and authentic
  • You have a burning desire to identify defect immediately: in real-time if possible

Preference will be given to people who

  • Knowledge of BDD (Behavioral Driven Development)
