Lighting Director

Overview: Gravity Media is seeking a Lighting Director. The Lighting Director position will be responsible for designing, programming, repairing and operating all lighting and special effect elements for shows and events. Works with the Technical Services Manager and Gravity Media’s ecosystem to manage projects and maintain overall product quality.

Essential Duties:

· Must have a clear knowledge and understanding of computerized lighting consoles

· Develops thorough knowledge of all lighting equipment specific to venue to include static and moving lights.

· Take ownership of a wide range of lighting looks using various techniques in a studio environment.

· Oversees and coordinates the proper maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of all show lighting and special effects equipment.

· Assists in technical operation for live shows and events, specifically operating the lighting console and outside windows in the studio.

· Serve as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques, and reviews production meetings.

· Safely operates technical equipment.

· The ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise.

· The Lighting Director’s primary responsibility is to oversee the lighting aspect, with teams being utilized in all areas.

· Maintain gear and keep close contact with manufacturer and vendor.

Qualifications:

· Previous lighting experience: minimum of 4-5 years as a lighting technician

· Tech training in lighting from ARR and certification

· Excellent self-motivation skills

· Experience in set design

· Team player

· Professional demeanor

· Exceptional organization skills

· Ability to multi-task

· Must have strong interpersonal skills

· Flexible schedule

· Ability to maintain composure in a sometimes high stressed, fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.

· Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen, ability to use telephone equipment.

· Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds.
