The Director of Teacher Development collaborates with external partners to provide world-class professional development opportunities for schools, while simultaneously overseeing the deployment and development of school-specific professional development opportunities..

AS A DIRECTOR, TEACHER DEVELOPMENT , YOU WILL..

  • Collaborates with the Talent Development and Community and Human Resources on strategic initiatives to support acquisition and retention of instructional staff;
  • Develops and leads the university partnerships with K12 to provide professional development and training content for teachers – to also include student teaching programs;
  • Oversees the implementation of national observation/feedback initiatives to drive effective teaching;
  • Creates a team vision and charge that reflects best thinking on transformational outcomes for students and is aligned to K12 and programmatic vision;
  • Serves as Subject Matter Experts (SME) to design, redesign, develop and build engaging online courses, assessments and activities in accordance with established processes and practices;
  • Provides guidance and support to other SMEs through each stage of course development;
  • Seeks out and engages with opportunities to think creatively and find innovative solutions to online course delivery challenges;
  • Conducts seminars and workshops alongside leadership;
  • Develops and manages the Teacher Development budget and financial responsibilities;
  • Turns innovative and creative ideas into solid proposals and executable plans that link to organizational priorities;
  • Partners with cross functional teams to measure effectiveness of programs and overall teacher effectiveness;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Actively participates in all leadership team meetings;
  • Acts as a liaison between school level, regional and corporate staff to determine immediate needs, issues, and support for the individual schools


    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Directly supervises 10 – 20 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Education or similar field of study AND
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience AND
  • Three 3 years of leadership experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience


    Certificates and Licenses:
    Primary or Secondary Educator Certification

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of effective training methodologies and a true passion for working with adult learners
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel; Web proficiency.
  • Ability to pass required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with universities and K-12 school partnerships.
