Director of Youth Ministries

Director of Youth Ministries Vale United Methodist Church, located in Oakton, VA, is a vibrant congregation looking for a leader who possesses a calling to work with youth combined with a love for God to direct a growing youth ministry at Vale. Located 22 miles west of Washington, D.C., our mission is to live united in faith, while seeking to: 1) align our lives with the way of Jesus Christ, 2) invite others to join with us, and 3) move beyond our walls to create a more just and loving world. The youth of Vale are vital members of our congregation, and we place great emphasis on nourishing their spiritual development and commitment to this mission. We seek a part-time Director of Youth Ministries (15 hrs. per week) who will engage, inspire and motivate the Junior and Senior High youth of our congregation, helping them to grow in their personal faith and evolution into responsible and caring young adults. This job would also include coordinating our youth-oriented “Parallel” Sunday morning worship service. Our need is for a person of spiritual maturity, integrity, creativity, and humor who can direct and support the Junior High and Senior High Youth Groups in:

• Planning fun and creative weekly group activities to build relationships among the youth of the congregation
• Coordinating and providing leadership with youth and adults for the “Parallel” (nontraditional) worship
• Regular activities that encourage our youth to experience the joy of Christian service by engaging in outreach and service projects within the church and greater community
• Summer mission projects that broaden the horizons of our youth and work to instill in them a lifelong commitment to service to others
• Non-church activities (i.e., sporting events, plays, concerts, graduation events) that build friendships.

The Director of Youth Ministries will work collaboratively with our Pastor and other staff members. The position enjoys the support of church leadership, parents and the congregation. A college degree is preferred; however youth program experience a MUST!
