Position Summary:

The School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for the position of Director of Student Services. This position directs mission critical student services processes including supervision, management and professional development of current staff, development and implementation of student services programming, and strategic planning and policy development supporting student life throughout all years of the MD program. The Director works closely with the Associate Dean for Students on all aspects of student services administration and also works regularly with leadership and staff across the Department of Academic Affairs and especially with the Medical Education Office on a wide array of curricular and co-curricular programs for students.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A Masters degree in higher education administration, student services, or a related field is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
  • Five years of experience in higher education administration required, preferably in a health professions school or graduate school environment
  • Five years of supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team is required
  • Experience in public speaking is required
  • High level of technical skills, facility with databases, and ability to run queries and reports is required
  • Experience formulating, adjusting and maintaining a budget aligned with unit needs and resources is required
  • Familiarity with campus Student Information System (SIS) is preferred
