POSITION Overview

The Director of Operations plays a key leadership role in this charter aircraft operation. Reporting to the CFO, this individual will support the safe execution of flight operations consistent with NCA’s mission & values, and financial goals. Key responsibilities include performing and delivering various flight operations’ functions and programs, including but not limited to aircraft performance, record keeping, FAA relations, operational control, and talent acquisition. This person is responsible for the business development process, by contributing to proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers.

The Director of Operations is also responsible for a high level of both employee & customer satisfaction, by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed – both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Is responsible for the flight operations department to ensure legal, safe and efficient operation. Responsible for development and enforcement of company policies and for ensuring compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations governing those flight and maintenance activities.
  • Is responsible for the development and execution of an NCA business plan that ensures the profitable growth of the charter business year-over-year.
  • Develop strong relationships with targeted charter customers and position NCA as a preferred provider through superior customer service and a positive customer experience, prior/during/after their flight.
  • Establishes and maintains a close working relationship with the FAA Principal Inspectors having certificate responsibility over the company’s air carrier operations.
  • May perform occasional duties as a flight crewmember when properly qualified in the aircraft. Note that we anticipate this will normally consume no more than 20% of the Director’s time.
  • Is responsible for all record keeping requirements and the proper maintenance and disposition of those records.
  • Responsible, in conjunction with Director of Maintenance and the Chief Pilot, for ensuring that the maintenance and inspection status of the assigned aircraft, is current and that required maintenance actions or inspections will occur before any aircraft is placed in service.
  • The duties and authority to accomplish these duties may and should be delegated as necessary; however, such delegation does not relieve the Director of Operations of the overall responsibility.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must meet experience requirements to hold the FAA part 135 management position of Director of Operations as listed in FAR 119.71 for an operation requiring an Airline Transport Rating.
  • Extensive knowledge of FAA CFR 14 Part 135 Regulations.
  • Most possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must have proficiency with common business software such as MS Office.
  • Superior customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Able to take initiative and create, implement, and improve procedures and programs.
  • Skilled in vendor relationship management.
  • Adaptable and agile, responsive to quick changes in direction and business climate.
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers and other stakeholders.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Management or a related field strongly preferred. May substitute years of experience
