Bemis Associates, a leading manufacturer of heat activated films, adhesives, water proofing seam tapes, and custom films for many industries including apparel, consumer electronics, and handbags is seeking a Director of Continuous Improvement to play a critical leadership role in driving operational efficiencies and best practices within the US manufacturing organization while driving alignment and tactical execution of corporate growth strategy.
Essential Duties: Key Operational Leader who drive Continuous Improvement throughout the company based on KPIs and data analysis for processes in need. Using lean tools and strategies work with all departments to drive projects to improve efficiencies, cost reductions, speed to market, improved safety or other key business drivers. Focus in initial term will be US based; longer term global.
How you can contribute;
· Using Operational reporting to find areas of improvement
· Gain approval for projects and lead the execution, working with functional leaders and staff
· Provide support as requested to Capital Equipment Projects/Ideation from concept to implementation.
· Work closely with Production to increase OEE and material efficiency
· Actively engage with cross functional business groups with specific attention to productivity, and efficiency
· Participate in and lead Kata/Lean events scheduled.
· Ensure proper training is performed for any process changes
· Develop continuous improvement idea process
· Develop, lead, coach and engage associates in continuous improvement utilizing lean and kata concepts/ tools.
· Be lean resource to all functions to help coach, train and assist with lean tools
· Maintain ISO certification and TQM processes
· Create dashboard KPI’s and report monthly to track progress on lean journey
What you need;
· Previous experience in a union and ISO certified environment preferred
· Project Management expertise; certification a plus
· Hands on manufacturing experience or supply chain preferred
· Ability to manage through influence
· Ability to sell ideas
· Strong analytical skill
· 5 years of leadership experience
· Black Belt certification strongly preferred
· Expert in Lean manufacturing principles
· Office Microsoft Suite, especially excel proficiency
· BA/BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration
