DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS SERVICES

SUMMARY:

Lead, direct, and supervise the overall business office operation of the center in accordance with state, federal, and company guidelines so as to maintain accurate and timely financial records in achieving the

Center’s business objectives. Responsible for all billing, accounts receivable, and collection activities for the Center to include achieving cash collection and AR goals. Position will perform accounting functions and supervise two to three associates: Accounts Payable Coordinator, Payroll Benefits Coordinator,

Administrative Assistant, and Business Office Assistant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Oversees all billing, accounts receivable, and collection activities in the center.

 Organizes, evaluates, and monitors business office operations and assigned personnel in accordance with established standards of practice.

 Ensures integrity and confidentiality of all resident financial data.

 Oversees month end close activities related to charge capturing and submission of all billing statements and invoices to payers. Ensures that all Center standards of practice relating to billing are adhered to.

 Ensures that billing is accurate and cash expectations are met.

 Interacts with payers to define billing requirements and ensures prompt payment of claims.

 Oversees all census activities, including daily, weekly, and monthly balancing with Nursing and

Admission departments.

 Produces reports for analysis purposes as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Minimum of two (2) years of college in a related field or a minimum of five (5) years’ related administrative experience in lieu of education. Previous long term care experience.

 Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level to accomplish the job.

 Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers.

 Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance as required.

 Advanced computer knowledge and experience relative to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processing.

 Must have previous supervisory experience and strong organizational and communication skills.

 Must be able to operate office/accounting machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT:

 Frequent walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling.

 Willing to work beyond normal working hours and during disastrous circumstances, if needed.

 Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

 Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, and outside agencies and to work cooperatively with other associates.

 Ability to present to groups.

 Ability to remain calm under stress.

 Ability to communicate with local staff, remote staff, and outside agencies.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 Attend and participate in training and in-service education.

 Assist in orientation and training other staff.

 Must be able to work weekends and holidays as directed by supervisor.
