The Design Director has the vision and expertise to translate Dimensionalâs content into engaging communications that reflect and enhance the brand of a dynamic, growing organization. He/she leads a team of graphic designers and production artists in the conceptualization, design, and production of corporate collateral including brochures, publications, events materials, presentations, and promotional campaigns for print and digital distribution. He/she must have the ability to work creatively within a corporate brand and a fast-paced environment and have a deep understanding of connecting creative solutions to business objectives. The Design Director evangelizes design thinking and best practices for building and supporting a global brand and acts as part contributor/part guide and mentor to a team of designers.
The right candidate is a forward-thinking designer with an organizational, process-driven mindset and experience managing design teams and developing the brand for a diverse, global company. He/she must have the ability to translate complex subjects in an understandable and compelling way and to work with other members of the Marketing team as well as senior leaders and key stakeholders within the business to produce exceptional communications on a consistent basis.

Responsibilities:
Lead a team of designers to conceptualize and produce award-winning design solutions that increase knowledge of Dimensional and investment principles for global audiences including employees, investment professionals, and end-investors. Work closely with Creative Director to master and evolve the brand and imagine the optimal format and creative approach for each project. Manage the workflow and direct the design work of a growing team from concept to completion, ensuring all deliverables are met on time and are supported by a sound rationale. Partner with Editorial, Video, and Digital Design teams to ensure the brandâs visual language remains unified and consistent across mediums. Play a collaborative role as part of the Creative leadership team, connecting creative solutions with business needs both within the Marketing department and across other departments and stakeholders. Understand our competitor landscape and have a point of view on optimal creative solutions to represent our brand in the marketplace. Articulate and embody craftsmanship while setting the bar for design throughout the organization. Set short-term and long-term vision and goals for yourself and your team in the context of the department and firm goals. Manage and motivate a diverse creative team that works together to deliver great client experiences that yield business results. Promote and develop teamâs skills and foster an environment of teamwork. Set employee goals, monitor staff performance, and conduct performance reviews.
Competencies Required:
Must have formal training/expertise in editorial design, typography, layout, grids, design systems, data visualization, and brand development Ability to synthesize information and proactively solve creative problems, enhance the brand, and improve operational efficiencies Ability to present cohesive and persuasive rationales for design approaches Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of designers, pushing them to deliver their very best work Proven ability to align a team behind a client-focused vision and deliver measurable results against plans Proficient in the vernacular of interactive design, video, and editorial and able to successfully collaborate with broader marketing teams A passion for quality and craftsmanship reflected in deliverables and perspective Exceptional, professional client-service skills Excellent oral, presentation, and communication skills Excellent planning, time management, and follow-through skills Ability to multitask and prioritize high-volume workload of the team based on workflow dependencies, competing business initiatives, and time constraints Collaborative approach working with teams within Marketing and across departments Strong proficiency with standard tools of the trade (like Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Jira, etc.) An online portfolio demonstrating a strong design foundation with relevant examples of design concepts, deliverables, and process Experience in financial services, either in a corporate or agency role, is preferred, however, experience with other complex, intangible products is highly relevant
Educational Background:
B.F.A. or M.F.A. in communication design or equivalent
Relevant Years of Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a creative or marketing environment with a focus on leading design teams (preferably in-house) in the development of corporate communications
