The Florida Department of Children and Families has set an agency wide goal of reducing families in crisis by 20% before June 2021. Children’s Legal Services (CLS), a statewide law firm within the Department of Children and Families, is seeking applicants for six Regional Director positions (Northwest, Northeast, Central, SunCoast, Southeast, and Southern). The selected candidates will be responsible for working daily with CLS, DCF, and case management leadership in the region to develop and drive practices that promote the safety and permanency for dependent children.

Among other duties, the Regional Director is responsible for:

  • Executing the responsibilities of lead counsel on a case load,
  • Performing weekly commitments that support the Department’s 4DX goals,
  • Modeling and enforcing litigation best practices in compliance with the Rules of Juvenile Procedure and the Florida Evidence Code,
  • Ensuring CLS’s regional actions comply with Florida Statutes Chapters 39, 63, 409, and 742, Title IV-E of the Social Security Act, the Family First Prevention Services Act, Florida Administrative Code, and Department policy,
  • Analyzing regional FSFN data to develop solutions with the CLS team and its partners to ensure successful results,
  • Identifying efficiencies and resources that support CLS team members in the region, and
  • Managing the regional budget by monitoring purchases and encumbrances in the region.

Applicants must have significant management experience, strong litigation skills with an understanding of Chapter 39 and the Rules of Juvenile Procedure, excellent credentials, strong written and oral communication skills, significant critical thinking skills, and a positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively with our community stakeholders. Must be a member of the Florida Bar.
