Job Summary
The Bond & Specialty Insurance Technology organization seeks an experienced Scrum Master to join our Commercial Surety Agile Release Train. You will work on a Feature Team following Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles and will be responsible for conducting Agile ceremonies. You will have the autonomy to experiment and innovate in the spirit of Agile and Lean â do what works, try new things, and stop doing what doesnât work.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
The Scrum Master is a role on the Commercial Surety feature team, responsible for championing the Agile mindset within the development teams and facilitating the execution of business projects to automate new or enhance existing business processes.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the skills and experience necessary to:
- Diligently apply Scrum principles, practices and theory to facilitate the completion of work that delivers business value and meets the needs of our customers.
Coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
- Collaborate with the Product Manager and other Product Owners and coach on Agile practices.
- Support the team by employing a servant-leadership style, removing impediments and leading by example.
Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution, removal of barriers and active management of dependencies
- Protect the scrum team from external distractions, keeping them focused on delivering high quality, valuable code
- Address and remove roadblocks; refocus stuck teams
- Foster a cohesive, team-focused environment through influencing behaviors; not command and control actions.
- Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. 2 years of project management experience required.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. 5 years of project management experience preferred. Experience managing others and/or project teams preferred.
Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
5 years hands on software delivery experience
Working knowledge of Agile management tools, such as Rally and/or JIRA
Demonstrated success partnering with business SMEs, Product Owners, RTE and Leadership
Expert working knowledge of Agile Frameworks, Scrum and/or SAFe, KANBAN
Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies with a variety of software delivery resources
Knowledge of process optimization methodologies, such as Six Sigma and/or Lean
Ability to gain broad understanding of overall software delivery roadmaps and related strategies
Experience with small to large projects of varying complexity
Ability to influence and foster buy in at all levels
Strong communication skills: verbal, written, listening to various levels across the organization
Exposure to issue/risk management
Certified Scrum Master, CSM or SSM (Safe 4)
