PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES
As a project manager in the Advanced Concepts and Development Cell, you will be providing revolutionary capabilities to todayâs warfighters and first responders by leveraging and integrating exciting emerging technologies. Your primary goal is to ensure projects are executed on time, at budget, and with first time quality using a blend of agile and waterfall project management methodologies. You will lead cross-functional teams to meet stringent end-user requirements. You will support internal productization projects and externally funded developmental programs. Success will only be achieved by taking an organized approach that enables team members to clearly identify and execute their scope of work with minimal overhead while still identifying and mitigating risks of all type. The Project Manager I reports to the Manager, Operational Project Management.
SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proactively manage all aspects of project planning and execution including developing the baseline project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, identify gaps and decompose high-level information into details to drive decision-making
- Implement methods tailored to specific projects to understand, define, and control scope, cost, schedule, and quality. Make essential outputs available on a pull basis.
- Understand, quantify, and mitigate the impacts of scope and schedule change.
- Engage resource managers and technical leads to build project teams, develop work packages, identify and mitigate risk, and build concept of operations for program execution and progress monitoring.
- Understand internal project deliverables and documentation. Develop and implement a plan to ensure all deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to pursue agreed upon objectives while tracking, prioritizing and communicating top issues.
- Be enthusiastic about supporting internal projects and senior leadership, bringing order and efficiency to critical internal initiatives.
- Proactively partake in ACDC functions including monthly updates, budgeting, workload forecasting, planning sessions, etc.
- Work with business development team to translate end-user equirements to a formal system requirements document.
- Identify and engage stakeholders as appropriate. Tailor and present information to allow informed decision making (both technical and programmatic).
- Serve as an assistant project manager for projects with clearly identified external customers or partners.
- Facilitate efficient team meetings.
- Support the business development and sales teams as requested.
