Brief Narrative of Position:
The Information Technology Manager has overall responsibility for managing the collegeâs technology infrastructure, planning and deployment. He or she participates in and guides decisions regarding IT for the college, implements and manages those initiatives, with a thorough understanding of the implications across the institution, the application and technology portfolio and the technology infrastructure as a whole. The IT Manager works closely with the Systems Engineer and Chief Operating Officer to ensure coordination of information systems across all operational areas and advises the leadership of VanderCook College of Music.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Guides strategic decisions of a technical nature for the institution. Independently puts into practice and manages those programs.
- Provides leadership for the planning and prioritization of technology projects.
- Oversees the development of technological standards and architecture. Remains current in new technologies.
- In conjunction with senior leadership, identifies areas for technological improvement, to improve operational efficiencies, and increase productivity
- Maintains the security of the school’s data.
- Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and user departments
- Monitors staff to ensure security and ethical policies are being followed.
- Responsible for the school’s telecommunication equipment
- Participates in the development of long-range plans and stewardship of financial resources for the organization.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to providing high quality support to the faculty, staff and students of VanderCook College of Music.
- Oversees technical projects in alignment with organizational goals.
- Directs the effective delivery and management of networks, development, security, and disaster recovery systems and processes.
- Work with information engineers to find solutions to manage business activities.
- Researches and recommends new products.
- Identifies new market opportunities.
- Leads efforts to improve IT processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5-10 years of IT work experience.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience.
- Background in higher or K-12 education preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of information technology infrastructure and application architecture, including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations.
- Good interpersonal skills, to lead in complex situations with various levels of the organization, including staff, faculty, and senior administration.
- Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
- A basic knowledge of education-related systems applications, processes and technologies. Stays current with industry trends and shares relevant information with peers.

Salary: $50,000.00 to $70,000.00 /year
