Mission Control GG is a mobile app where gamers can join recreational esports leagues, similar to their local adult softball league or college intramurals — but for video games. Gamers can choose to join a league of just friends or decide to compete in a league hosted by a local organization. Mission Control manages the league schedule, validates scores, and determines the champion while also serving as a forum for league members and friends.

Organizations — whether a community group, college, LAN Center, or something else — can use Mission Control to gather a following, host leagues of various game titles, and manage their esports’ operations.

Mission Control is a platform for recreational esports, a place where gamers can play in video game leagues for friends.


Job Summary

The Head of Development will assist in the design and manage the development and maintenance of the Mission Control esports rec league platform. The Head of Development will be integral in evaluating, establishing, and implementing the earliest iterations of the platform and laying the groundwork for future technological success. She/He will then be responsible for ensuring these technologies are efficiently, profitably, and securely used going forward. The Head of Development will be the most senior technology specialist on staff, therefor responsible for day to day management of and hiring of additional development team members or core technology partners.


Responsibilities and Duties


  • Design, develop, and maintain     key systems and features.
  • Day to day management of Mission Control’s development team and contractors.

  • Hiring     of additional Mission Control development team members.
  • Management of Mission Control’s agile development methodology.
  • Develop technical aspects of Mission Control’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals.
  • Leads the architecture, design, development, qualification, and deployment of applications consistent with product and technical roadmaps.
  • Deliver applications that meet or exceed product requirements, project schedules, and reliability.
  • Define technical requirements to accompany existing products and operation requirements. Designs and develops use cases in support of the technical requirements. Transforms technical requirements into architectures.
  • Determines resources, technology, and course of action to achieve results.

  • Provides leadership and consultative direction to the organization.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology.
  • Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience as a Software Engineer
  • Knowledge of technological and industry trends to build strategy
  • Preferred BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with agile methodology
  • Familiarity with Angular
  • Familiarity with Firebase
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership and organizational abilities
  • Strategic thinking
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Familiarity or passion for video gaming and esports
