Director of Software Engineering

Piper Companies is partnered with a premier product organization in their efforts to identify a Director of Engineering to take ownership of their marquee Cyber Security Product in Herndon, Virginia.

Director of Engineering responsibilities include:

• Lead and mentor technical team members to design, develop and test major software product components
• Partner with internal and external users to ensure customers needs are met and flowed down appropriately via user stories
• Provide documentation of the architecture of the marquee product
• Ensure quality assurance standards are high quality through a suite of testing approaches
• Provide executive guidance of customer-facing product end-to-end
• Demonstrate expertise in driving the strategy and architecture of Java-based products that are deployed to Amazon Web Services
• Will work closely with product architects to recommend course of action, technological enhancements, long-term vision and future-state of product growth

Qualifications for the Director of Engineering include:

• US Citizen with eligibility to obtain a security clearance
• 7+ years of architecture and development experience
• 2+ years of experience leading and managing teams
• Extensive experience with Agile development
• Demonstrated product experience
• Expertise with the following from a leadership perspective:
  • Java (java, spring, struts, hibernate, rest services, soapui, jquery, jsp, javascript, html, css, angular, aurelia, etc.)
  • AWS
  • CI/CD (Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
  • Large-scale software design and implementation
• Must have excellent communication abilities

Salary range: $160,000 – $190,000+ base + bonus + benefits (full-time role)
