    Job Summary: Plans, develops, and coordinates the strategic marketing and communication activities of Hill College through an integrated approach of internal and external communication, media relations, media buying, social media, advertising, graphic design, and the website. Promotes the college to its various constituents, including the general public, current and prospective students, employees, taxpayers, and legislative and media representatives. Enhances the Hill College image and expands public awareness of and support for the college.

    Minimum Required Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Prefer: Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field

    Minimum Required Experience:

    • Five years in marketing, public relations, or corporate communications
    • Five years supervisory and management experience
    • Prefer: Experience in communications within higher education

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Establishes research-based, data-driven marketing and communication strategies in line with the vision, mission, and educational philosophy of Hill College.
    • Develops and coordinates execution of the college’s overall, long-range marketing plan, incorporating all college divisions and service area markets. Annually reviews, develops, coordinates, measures, evaluates, and adjusts the college’s communication and marketing plan(s), programs, and objectives in line with the college’s annual and long-range plans.
    • Determines the appropriate media to promote and represent the college; directs and coordinates mass media advertising for the college, including, but not limited to, newspaper and magazine advertisements, radio, theater ads, direct mail, and websites.
    • Develops and coordinates execution of marketing campaigns for individual and/or departmental initiatives throughout the year, as needed.
    • Develops, researches, and distributes press releases to area media contacts, as well as contacts throughout the community. Serves as a writer for press releases, publications, marketing and promotional materials, and internal communication.
    • Consults with internal clients regarding projects and identifies needs, objectives, marketing deliverables and design approaches. Ensures appropriate publications and promotional materials are planned, developed, and delivered while preserving the Hill College brand and supporting key initiatives.
    • Schedules, promotes, and coordinates media coverage of Hill College events.
    • Serves as Marketing Director for the Texas Heritage Museum. Manages marketing and public relations efforts on behalf of the museum and reports to the Dean of Texas Heritage Museum for all matters related to the museum.
    • Oversees all marketing, communications, web, and social media efforts. Supervises and trains all Communications staff in relevant areas as needed, providing staff development and evaluation programs.
    • Develops and manages the Communications departmental budget.
