The Position

The Director, Global Corporate Security reports to the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary (CLO) and will be in our Kingsport, TN location. This role is the senior security executive at Eastman and is responsible for global security governance and the development, coordination and management of security practices, policies and procedures that ensure the protection of Eastman personnel, physical assets and property worldwide. This role works closely with the Information Technology Security team and the Intellectual Property Legal team to develop and implement an integrated global strategy to protect Eastman’s information and trade secrets. In this role, you will become part of a high performing team of 200+ legal, compliance, and regulatory professionals located throughout the world working closely with the businesses and functions that we support.

The individual will handle details of a highly confidential and critical nature and will need to display a high degree of discretion, integrity, and know-how to balance urgent requests with thoughtfulness. The successful individual will bring a positive and can-do attitude and flexibility to the work environment and demonstrate the ability to work with professionalism and courtesy with all levels of internal management, employees, vendors, partners, and external contacts. The Profile

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Anticipating and prioritizing external threats to employees, business locations, and property;
  • Developing effective, coordinated and cost-effective strategies for mitigating or removing such risks;
  • Providing management, direction and enterprise-wide coordination of all global security services, including policy and procedures, executive and personnel security, site security, and strategic planning for enterprise-wide security programs to meet corporate, local, state and federal regulations and guidelines;
  • Managing a global security team and global security program budgets;
  • Developing and maintaining effective liaison with all appropriate US government agencies, including but not limited to DHS, FBI, FAA, TSA, Coast Guard, DSS and relevant international law enforcement agencies, including Interpol, Europol and others;
  • Coordinating internally and externally investigation of criminal and sensitive matters affecting Eastman globally, including, but not limited to, threats to personnel, product tampering, product counterfeiting, internal thefts, fraud, economic espionage, extortion and kidnapping;
  • Overseeing and coordinating travel security program to ensure that all Company personnel traveling or assigned permanently overseas receive appropriate security training, risk briefings and where appropriate personnel protection assistance;
  • Maintaining effective partnerships with Human Resources, Internal Audit, Global Business Conduct, Information Technology Security and Intellectual Property Legal teams;
  • Building and fostering positive and effective relationships among key stakeholders, both internal and external to global security programs to enhance communications, cost effectiveness and risk mitigation worldwide; and
  • Anticipate needs and proactively create options and recommendations.

You will need to demonstrate skills/experience in

  • Ability to interface in a highly professional and friendly manner with senior executives, business leaders, members of the Board of Directors, regulators, and customers and vendors;
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate ability to juggle multiple competing tasks, deadlines, and personalities;
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and use best judgment for sharing information. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy

Requirements

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • High standard of personal professionalism and business ethical integrity;
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university;
  • At least ten years working in security, law enforcement and/or government intelligence organizations, including experience in most of the following: white-collar crime, property crime, counterterrorism, economic espionage, protection of intellectual property, executive protection, crises management;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, manage teams, manage budgets and implement change within organizations;
  • Ability to influence, communicate and interact effectively with senior management as well as peers in a multi-national organization; and
  • Availability for national and international travel up to 25%.


Preferred

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Experience working in or consulting with a corporate security organization;
  • International security experience;
  • Experience working in a global organization;
  • Experience working in the chemical industry or other manufacturing sector; and
  • Experience working with C-suite executives.
