Summary and Qualifications:
The primary purpose of the Vice President Veterinary Quality is to develop and lead the Directors of Veterinary Quality (DVQs) to ensure care delivered in our hospitals meets industry and Banfield quality standards. This role will serve as a champion for a culture of quality and safety in our practice, ensuring consistent execution of practice quality strategies.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

Serve as a champion for quality by showing and telling how a culture of quality and safety results in improved care, a better client experience, increased associate engagement and better hospital performance.

Lead, recruit, hire, supervise and develop team of Directors of Veterinary Quality (DVQs) s so they can successfully recruit, develop & retain DVMs, while implementing medical & quality programs to achieve practice goals.

Ensure DVQs manage and execute desired quality audits so that plans developed result in hospital compliance with industry and Banfield quality standards while building DVM engagement.

Develop or ensure productive relationships are developed with veterinary schools that meet the long term recruiting needs for the practice, partnering with (or serving as) University Liaison, CTS and other teams as needed to deliver on these plans.

For the safety of clients, associates and pets, oversee DVQ’s work to ensure hospital operations meet all local, state and federal regulations and are in compliance with all Banfield safety procedures.

Work with DVQs to develop and implement strategies to enhance and ensure medical acumen of COS’ and Associate DVMs, focusing on strategic priorities for the practice.

Actively participate in local, state, and national veterinary organizations.

Cultivate relationships within the veterinary profession to promote a positive image of the practice and develop a strong network.

Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.

The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

Associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.

Must be able to travel long distances by air, train or car on short notice for extended periods of time. Must meet age requirements of national car rental agencies and have reliable private transportation for frequent local travel including a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Banfield policies and protocols are not intended to supersede the associate’s legal responsibilities and medical judgment. In the event of a conflict, applicable laws and regulations will control.
Experience, Education and/or Training:
-
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent foreign degree is required.

An active veterinary license in good standing is required for at least one state in which they oversee hospitals.

Ten years professional experience in small animal veterinary medicine and surgery practice expertise with veterinary leader management required.

Advanced degree in Small Animal Medicine; ABVP or ACVIM is preferred.

DEA: Candidate must obtain state controlled substance and federal DEA within 3 months of employment, unless otherwise required by the state in which working

USDA: Accredited by the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service
