What you will be doing
Under broad direction of the SVP, Finance Global Commercialization and Animal Health, and in partnership with the Business Unit President / General Manager the VP, Finance provides strategic direction and is responsible for the development and sponsorship of long-term financial objectives for the Business Unit and alignment to ABC’s Corporate goals and deliverables. Responsibilities include financial planning, reporting, and analysis (including the monthly/quarterly results and estimates, the annual budget process, and the long-range plan), commercial finance (including manufacturer deal negotiations & management, and other related activities), and overall financial partnership with the segment business lead team.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs and coordinates the fiscal year planning process in order to establish annual and long range budgets and forecasts for the Business Unit.
- Responsible for Business Unit accounting and finance. Partners with ABC Corporate Accounting to establish internal controls, policies and procedures, as well as the preparation and reporting of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develops the Strategic Operating Plan, Annual Operating Plans/Budgeting/Forecasts for all activities related to ABC Business Unit, including analytical financial processes.
- Ensures data integrity and ongoing refinement of financial analytic systems and practices to support tactical and strategic decision-making.
- Assesses Business Unit financial performance and issues periodic performance reports to ABC Corporate
- Delivers specific recommendations on financial improvement programs, which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement of the Business Unit.
- Provides financial leadership, expertise and support through due diligence, and financial integration of current and future acquisitions related to ABC Business Unit. Sponsors programs and process improvements to continually enhance the precision of financial forecasting and estimation.
- Responsible for sponsoring and implementing processes that support interchanges, co-targeting, and collaborative solutions to customer/manufacturer performance management ensuring maximized value.
- Responsible for ensuring proper staffing, training, performance management and career development to support all direct functional responsibilities.
- Directs the action steps assigned to the ABC Business Unit finance team to ensure compliance with AmerisourceBergen’s Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
What your background should look like (minimum qualifications)
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires specific training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, or similar vocations generally obtained through an advanced degree, usually resulting in a Master’s Degree or advanced certifications; CPA and/or MBA preferred. Normally requires eight (8) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of financial management and working knowledge of accounting principles
- Thorough understanding of company philosophy, strategic direction, goals and objectives in order to make effective use of company resources for short and long range financial needs
- Demonstrated project management/program management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to lead by influence via the use of advanced facilitation skills; ability to build coalitions and gain consensus
- Strong leadership skills; ability to develop, initiate and sponsor strategic objectives
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; attention to detail
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
