Job Overview

This strategic, highly visible, and transformational leadership role will drive the evolution of the IDD operations configuration and processes to ensure state of the art support for client services and align deliverables for the IDD Commercial, Operations, and Finance groups with those of the IDD business. This role will work across the IDD division to ensure optimal support for our consultants through leveraging technologies, processes and competencies. This role will also focus on identifying and implementing operational excellence opportunities to ensure efficient, standardized, quality focused services to all of our clients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support IDD business strategy and goals by taking responsibility for the design and implementation of a Commercial and Operational Services strategy leveraging Operational Excellence principles including but not limited to:

o Develop a strategic plan for a Fulfilment Services function (including medical writing, proposal and tender writing, slide materials,
quality control of documents) to support delivery of the highest quality work output. Provide efficient management of external contractor
network as part of this group.

o Creation of a Resource Management Office (RMO), who will support project resourcing across functions, practice areas and geographies. RMO will act as central point for planning and prioritizing project resources, ensuring that resources can be allocated consistent with strategic priorities. Partner with business and project leads to facilitate efficient and appropriate resource allocation aligned with consultant expertise and professional development.

o Establish knowledge management processes and systems that support effective RMO. In collaboration with the operations group and IT support the maintenance and evolution of the IDD PortalSupport organizational transformation, including redesign of functions and roles and implementation of change

  • Budget Management and Finance Reporting: In collaboration with the IDD finance group, support the IDD leadership team by driving the annual budget process, monitoring budget and financial performance throughout the year, taking responsibility for the financial and other reporting obligations to the IDD executive, CEO and BOD. Manage business performance; understand goals, and business insights and levers needed to achieve the business objectives and enthusiastically assess and frame results
  • Total Quality Management: Support the Director of Quality Management in their work with IDD SMEs to define a framework for quality measures across IDD’s various work products and to ensure that SOPs are maintained which ensure quality of the IDD work products.
  • Analysis and Reporting of Business Metrics: In collaboration with the commercial analysts and other subject matter experts within IDD, provide analyses of business metric performance in accordance with direction provided by IDD management. Identifying opportunities to improve business results, decrease costs, increase available capacity, improve accuracy and timeliness.
  • Business Operations Support: In collaboration with the business operations group and project management ensure that identified critical data on project status and invoicing information is kept current to support accurate information on business metrics. Direct process innovation and drive operational effectiveness within the Commercial and Operational Services and within the wider IDD organization as needed. Assist with the refinement of operational cadence around an ever-changing environment to drive increased efficiencies, alignment and agility for our team
  • Training and On-boarding: In collaboration with HR, IT and other relevant stakeholders ensure a consistent onboarding and off-boarding process which can be implemented on a global level. Work with the Learning and Development Group to help embed L&D activities within the IDD organization.
  • As part of the IDD leadership team, create processes and mechanisms for best-practice sharing across the IDD division and other Certara businesses to help reduce and eliminate departmental silos.

Education, Experience, Training, and Knowledge

  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ management/leadership experience in business operations
  • Experience working with Salesforce reporting/analytics
  • 3 years’ Finance experience
  • 3 years’ experience working in a service/management consulting organization
  • Experience in Life Science industry sector, pharmaceutical preferred
  • Experience transforming organizations and managing executive stakeholder engagement
  • Experience leveraging resources to drive significant business value
