GENERAL FUNCTION: The SBA Operations Director position reports to the Director of Business

and Private Banking Lending Director. It is responsible for directing the strategy, technical and

operational functions of the SBA loan portfolio includingSBAloan program eligibility determination,

post-approval due diligence and loan closing, SBA reporting; and serving as the primary liaison

between the SBA (and other government guaranteed loan program entities) and Fifth Third Bank.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

. Oversee adherence to SBA credit and eligibility policies, ensuring compliance with government regulations and the SBA guaranty

. Maintain an in-depth working knowledge of all SBA products and services and ensure that the Business Banking leadership team and market leaders are alert to new developments or modifications of the SBA program as published by SBA Center Office in Washington, DC

. Ensure effective and efficient delivery of SBA loan eligibility, due diligence and loan closing services to the bankers who serve Fifth Third customers, with consistent fulfillment of service level agreements.

. Identify and implement process improvements in product delivery through the sales, credit, and fulfillment channels

. Responsible for implementing improvements required by SBA audits, and internal audits/reviews

. Monitor and evaluate risks and exposures associated with the processes and procedures of the SBA loan product line for the Bancorp.

. Maintain strong relationships with credit and sales teams to allow for effective execution

and problem resolution

. Manage SBA loan secondary market sales process to ensure all eligible SBA loans are bid

and sold, if Fifth Third should choose to engage in loan sales

. Participate in regional and national SBA conferences and promote Fifth Third as a leader in

the market for small business lending

. Develop training and education guidelines for SBA lending

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback;

developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance

employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pooltoensure adequate bench strength

and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 7 years of progressive management experience
• Minimum 7 years of SBA operations and/or business credit experience
• Thorough working knowledge of SBA SOP 50-10-5 and other SOP program guides
• Self-motivated with excellent business acumen, strategic thinking skills, and process improvement skills
• Must be creative and forward-looking, clear thinker and decision maker, and change agent
• Proven ability to collaborate with and present to executive management
• Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages such as MS Office
