Patient Financial Services Project Manager, Performance Improvement
40 hours per week, day shift
JOB SUMMARY: Manages and directs multiple moderate to high impact projects with moderate to high strategic impact and an aggressive speed of delivery, which may target first time use of new technologies, processes, culture shifts or vendor services for Patient Financial Services, ensuring alignment with the Enterprise PMO methodology and tools. Establishes and executes project plans and other necessary governance for successful project delivery.
Nature of assigned projects includes duration of between 6-18 months with delivery speed of moderately aggressive to aggressive. Project Team size averages 10 to 30 or more FTEs and cross-functional teams with participants from multiple business units. Directly manages contract resources when appropriate, and depending on project, may require long distance staffing and vendors to accomplish goals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Industrial Engineering, Nursing or related field with eight years’ project management experience required. Experience managing vendor relationships and vendor resources preferred. Knowledge of project accounting and healthcare practices and culture preferred. Exposure to Organizational Change Management methodology preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Adheres to the established enterprise methodologies, practices and procedures for documentation, project management, programming, configuration, change management, testing, deployment and system monitoring to promote accountability within that cultivates a collaborative work environment with our customers and ensures delivery of agreed upon functionality.
2. Defines project scope, budget, goals and deliverables that support the business requirements in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Directs and manages project development from beginning to end including clear and concise timeline expectations to the project team.
3. Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Coordinates resource estimates and participants needed to achieve project goals. Where required, negotiates with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the organization.
4. Proactively manages changes in project scope, budget, project issues, potential risks, and devises contingency plans.
5. Develops and delivers status reports, proposals, requirements documentation, change/risk/issue logs, earned value analysis, meeting minutes and presentations.
6. Manages, clinical, business, and vendor resources in a matrix environment working with appropriate management to secure the appropriate resources.
7. Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.
8. Ensures that all projects have a documented Return on Investment giving specific details and timelines for that return.
9. Coordinates and ensures that training specific to the project is planned and executed, as needed.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong background in methods (SDLC, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Significant knowledge of project management practices and methodologies
- Significant experience in implementing packaged solutions
- Experience in managing vendor resources
- Experience and ability to manage in a matrix environment
- Significant knowledge of revenue cycle
