The United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) coordinates the nation’s organ transplant system, providing vital services to meet the needs of men, women and children awaiting lifesaving organ transplants. Based in Richmond, Va., UNOS is a private, nonprofit membership organization.

About the Position:
Position Description
The Security Technology Manager is responsible for leading the planning, development and continued enhancement of administration for the security systems utilized by the Facilities & Security (F&S) Department. This includes installation, operation and management of these systems, problem solving, vendor interfacing and be the liaison with the UNOS Information Technology group. This individual will also provide technical training of these current and future systems to the F&S Team. In addition, this position is responsible for developing and enhancing the security systems utilized by the F&S team.
This position is also responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of solutions to meet the department’s technology growth for building management, and security of UNOS property and personal. The candidate will focus on the areas of technological and physical enhancement for security, process improvement, quality assurance, and teamwork. The Security Technology Manager is also responsible to assist in the development and forecast for annual capital and operational budgets. This position requires being available for a rotating on-call schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Application/System Administration, Maintenance and Planning
- Provide hardware and software support relating to all aspects of the security systems.
- The duties will include enhancement planning, installation, configuration, security and performance tuning of the security systems.
- The resolution of complex problems utilizing cross department resources associated with these applications/systems.
- Remain current on developments in related fields through research and publications.
Security
- Responsible for the management of a security software package consisting of a state of the art card/keypad access control and video imaging system that includes a CCTV component, security alarm monitoring and employee badge identification.
- Manages the conducting of physical security tests, audits and inspections as required.
- Manages security awareness orientation and crime prevention presentations to UNOS employees as required.
- Manages and conducts internal security investigations, as required.
- Manages the co-facilitation of annual security training.
- Assists with periodic risk assessments and internal audits for facility security issues.
- Assists with developing and maintaining effective liaisons with law enforcement agencies at all levels and other professional security associations.
- Assists with the development, implementation, monitoring and updates of UNOS security policies and procedures.
- Assists with making policy changes concerning physical/technical and procedural security solutions.
- Manages the security guards, parking deck and off-site parking requirements.
- Co-authors the UNOS Facility Continuity Plan (COOP) for disaster recovery and risk analysis.
Systems Documentation and Programming
- Develop and program security systems and procedures designed to protect UNOS employees and assets.
- Develop and maintain documentation of security systems to include systems administration, maintenance and security procedures.
- Coordinate systems technology projects with other information technology project managers, UNOS staff and outside vendors to complete required project tasks.
Additional Tasks and Duties
- Performs other tasks and duties as the opportunities arise in the daily and weekly flow.
- Assist with Security hardware installation.
- Report out progress of projects with accurate estimates of time and effort for assigned tasks.
- Create and follow schedules for all tasks keeping management aware of progress, slippage and any external impact.
Minimum Requirements
- 5 years of experience in the building/facility management field utilizing building control systems, computer facility management system and computer industry with direct support of personal computers, networks, telecommunications.
Critical Skills
- Experience and familiarity with data monitoring, acquisition and control systems, building control systems, Prowatch or similar Security Systems, fire alarm systems, software/hardware.
- Some experience in law enforcement, investigations or security management in a corporate environment desirable.
- 3+ years of experience in budget management, project management, information technology and/or property management preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Office.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Entry-level people management or related leadership experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication, effective interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively deal with employees, contractors, vendors, the general public, visitors and dignitaries on a daily basis.
- Excellent leadership skills; display of effective analytical problem-solving, decision-making; and investigative skills.
- Able to maintain high level of confidentiality at all times. General knowledge of Windows Operating System and familiarity with Internet access needed.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- The ability to handle commitment to deadlines and function without direct supervision.
- Have strong organizational and time management skills and work in a cross departmental environment.
Education
4-year degree in physical security, criminal justice or other related field of study, or equivalent professional work experience required.
