QCP is growing! We’re what happens when functional concrete meets innovative artisanship. Although QCP has been in business for more than 40 years, recent growth and exciting upcoming projects are prompting us to look for a seasoned Operations Manager to handle our increased demand.
Our ideal candidate brings a proven analytic and quantitative approach to driving factory efficiencies through process and people management, while balancing our high-quality standards. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of performance, setting and achieving KPI’s and accountability-based management. Our ideal candidate is responsible for everything that goes on inside the facility and is the driver of the production process working as the CEO’s right-hand person. Will also have demonstrated success applying lean manufacturing principles and techniques, and a bit of common sense, to improve process, improve throughput and build employee engagement. You will lead through a team of department managers and front-line supervisors but will need to be excited about rolling up your sleeves and diving into the details of our industry, products, manufacturing process and teams.
QCP’s hands on, dynamic Operations Manager will build a collaborative environment and push continuous improvement in workplace safety, product quality, production efficiency, product cost, and customer service. Must be results oriented who regularly meets or exceeds targets in a timely and cost-effective manner.
What you will be doing:
Operations Management/Continuous Improvement
Set the strategy, resource planning and execution of QCPs manufacturing operations for several product lines, meeting production goals, quality, timelines and cost.
Analyze data and trends to inform decision making and action plans
Oversee the successful management of several production departments including plant management, shipping, mold shop, and custom products.
Implement solid, repeatable processes that lead to consistent execution. Provide data analysis and feedback to work areas that will lead to improved execution.
Compress cycle times, lead times, and changeover times within areas in the plant to minimize waste.
Implement enhancements to capital equipment that furthers the Company’s position as a leader in prefabricated building products; present business cases, where appropriate, for automation and/or new equipment investments
Document equipment capacities, but also consider other constraints in logistics and other areas
Promote and maintain a clean workplace that is “tour-ready” at all times.
Ensure the plant employees and guests on site comply with safety and environmental practices – lead by example and build a safety-first culture.
Optimize all aspects of the facility as it exists and seek minor and major changes that will contribute to improved optimization of the staff, equipment and facility in general.
Evaluate existing equipment and manual processes in order to make informed recommendations for the purpose of increasing output or quality.
Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins. Maintain and report applicable KPI’s including production output, efficiencies.
People Management/Internal Collaboration
Always lead with a spirit of collaboration; secure buy-in from key internal stakeholders through effective and efficient communications and relationship
Demonstrate an ability to lead and develop talent at all levels, knowing how to motivate and inspire, while clearly communicating expectations.
Determine staffing requirements and successfully hire, supervise, orient, train and retain operations staff. Ensure that policies and procedures are followed consistently
Partner with accounting to monitor the materials supply chain including the monitoring of raw material and finished goods turnover cycles
Seek continued input from all employees who understand the historical and existing processes, including bottlenecks or limitations.
Identify succession planning and developmental opportunities for emerging operational leadership; activate professional development and stretch assignments to foster a learning culture that readies talent for a growing business.
Preferred Education and Experience
An undergraduate degree (or equivalent), preferably with a specialization in business or engineering; MBA or other relevant Master’s Degree preferred
10+ years’ experience in a manufacturing industry with demonstrable escalating scope of responsibility
Adequate working knowledge of Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project
Interested? Want to learn more? If you’re a passionate, hard-working team player who is smart and curious, and think that this position is right for you, we want to hear from you. Please apply and let’s begin the journey. Welcome to QCP!
