Responsible for external and internal contracts for short-term and long-range strategic planning, resolution of issues to enhance the development and quality of nursing care and developing and monitoring policies and procedures. Assists nursing managers with the development, implementation and monitoring of supply, capital and FTE budgets. Responsible for making sure business development accomplishes its growth goals and objectives for the orthopedic service line. Collaborates with other organizational leaders to cultivate sources of referrals and identify new clinical service offerings, including physicians.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Plans, directs, controls and evaluates patient care nursing operations in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer. Develops and recommends short- and long-term strategic plans and methods for achieving goals. Assists in establishing standards of performance, quality assurance and control, and patient care delivery.
2. Serves as a resource and representative by assisting with the planning of cooperative projects with other hospital departments and community agencies. Promotes integration of services with other hospital divisions.
3. Creates and maintains correspondence, records, reports, and other documentation related to the work.
4. Acts as a liaison/resource to Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer when working with managers, all levels of nursing staff and other disciplines, physicians, patients and families, schools of nursing, architects, contractors, vendors, professional organizations, clergy and the media.
5. Interacts on a regular basis with physicians to obtain feedback, resolve issues or plan for future needs.
6. Assumes 24-hour accountability, 7 days per week for areas of responsibility.
7. Conducts rounds to areas of responsibility.
8. All aspects of personnel management of department employees. Demonstrates collaborative interpersonal and communication skills. Facilitates high performance from staff.
9. Determines and coordinates departmental needs and operations regarding schedules and staffing patterns. Responsible for establishing and meeting productivity benchmarks.
10. Performs other related responsibilities as necessary.
Required:
- Bachelorsâ Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum of five years management experience in an orthopedic center and/or hospital environment.
- Experience in Orthopedics.
Preferred:

Master Degree in Business, Health Care Administration or a related field.
